Last Sunday

As usual my partner and I went for our grocery run at Aeon. That's our routine. Wake up. Eat breakfast (him, not me). Then it's off to Aeon. After that, lunch.

There I spotted this product.

Ready to eat sweet corn on the cob. Interesting.

It's a product of Thailand.

No, I didn't buy any. Seems rather strange to eat sweet corn from a package like that.

Then I spotted a packet of ground chilies and what caught my eye was the name of my home state. But it's not manufactured in Terengganu but in Johor.

Then it's off to lunch at 66 Chu Yuk Fun. See that big green bag on the table in front of the shelf?

It was a big order from a family and I spotted them when they came to collect.

It was a very busy day for these guys. Lots of takeaway orders and we waited for quite some time.

They were so kelam kabut that they got my order wrong. They gave me yellow mee instead of koay teow and my partner got only yellow mee without meehoon.

The lady server offered to take back our order to replace with the correct noodles but we told her it was not necessary.

As I stirred my noodles, eh, got meehoon. So I exchanged with my partner.

That was good except that it would have been way better with koay teow.

Then we headed home and I got on with my stuff.

I marinated some sliced pork belly to cook Korean BBQ Pork.

Now that I eat carbs, I can enjoy overnight oats.

I made four portions and stored them in the fridge.

To be enjoyed for the next four days at the office (topped with granola. Yummeh!).

After that I strained my bone broth.

To cut the long story short, I finished my food prep.

One of my prepped lunches looked like this on Monday morning.

Then for dinner that evening I had (defrosted and reheated) mee goreng and (defrosted and reheated) mini meatloaf.

Are your Sundays as boring as mine? hah...hah....

  1. I wonder how they tapao-ed the soupy noodles, not in plastic bags or plastic containers, I hope. I wouldn't buy the corn either - ready to eat. How do they keep them fresh in the packaging, I wonder? And RM7.50 for 2 is rather pricey. Eeeekkkkk!!! Kim chi? Hmmmmm...!!! LOL!!!

    1. The noodles and soup were packed in plastic bags. I wouldn't buy the corn as I suspect there could be preservatives.

  5. I agree with you. Corn on the cob is so easily prepared fresh and freshly cooked ones are also easily available from eateries so I wonder who would buy these prepacked ones. perhaps to eat them in a car during a road trip.

  6. AEON is always selling new and funny things to amaze me. My friend has taught me to buy their cheap TOP VALUE brands which is popular in Japan and has high manufacturing standard to cater for the Japanese.

I saw many tourists eating raw corn cobs in Cameron Highlands while walking on the streets. I tasted one bite when the seller asked me to try. It was sweet and juicy but I prefer to at least, boil them first to eliminate bacteria.

Sunday is not a rest day for you for going full swing to do 1001 chores!

  10. Hi PH, sorry for not coming by last few days, even my blog is not as regular as before. It is Sunday morning over here, nothing much being done yet. Been scurrying about for the past one week, it is time to slow down today. Maybe just go Walmart to get some stuff and cook at home. :) Like you, I won't buy ready-to-go corn, not so much a fan anyway... and I really got to admire you to prepare all those for one week! Not only that, I can see you are not a fussy or a picky eater like me! :)

  11. I love sweet corn. I cringe at the amount of plastic wrapping in supermarkets though. I try to go to a wet market when possible but it's not always convenient.

    1. I shudder at the thought of eating that sweet corn! Best to buy fresh from the market or even the supermarket and steam it on our own.
