These Old Bones Can't Sit Japanese Style

I am back! Sooner than expected. It was getting boring. These days, I don't enjoy time off very much. Too many things spinning in my head I guess.

So anyway, my partner took me for a nice dinner last Saturday evening. We went to Fujisawa Izakaya@Damansara Uptown. Not the one at the mall but the restaurant proper which is somewhere opposite RHB Bank and a few doors away from BBQ Ma Eul Cup Bap.

As I have mentioned before in an earlier post, whenever a restaurant is situated on the first or higher floors, I am discouraged from visiting on my own. I don't know what I am afraid of. But once visited with company or if I have read favorable reviews, then I am confident to go up on my own.

So there we were.

There are decorations all the way upstairs.

So many liquor bottles!

Maybe whoever is running the drinks department is a bottle hoarder heh..heh...

Only two short flights of steps and we reached the first floor.

It was almost full house save for one table.

This table was the one beside ours after the couple left.
Adoi! Got to sit on the floor leh! Some more got no hole in the platform to put our legs. Tsk!

My shogun made himself right at home.

Crossed legged and all.

Me? I wasn't doing too well.

I sat with my legs extended. Don't laugh.

Now on to the food.

Edamame (RM7.00). My partner's favorite. While waiting for the rest of our food I took a look around.

Hmmm....

It was full house by then and very noisy.

My partner was very hungry, so I got him an order of his favorite Tori Karage (RM15.00). It was very good.

He was quite pleased with his Saba Shioyaki Fried Rice (RM25.00). He removed the sambal onto a side plate and I took it.

I got myself an Ikura Hotate Bara Chirashi Don (RM39.90). It was served with a bowl of miso soup and wasabi.

Not bad at all, everything in my bowl was fresh. The only thing I did not like were the crabsticks.

Halfway through the meal, my partner remarked that his legs were numb. I was feeling some discomfort too and shifted my position.

Wahahahaha!!!

He too finally gave up.

Total bill RM98.90 which I paid with Favepay to get cashback.

On our way down, I told my partner that in future, if there is no regular table for us, we'll just walk to Seng Kee and eat chicken rice hah..hah....hah....

  1. Eh, didn't you say you were taking a whole week off blogging? So, I thought you'd be back on Monday...guess you missed us too much...or missed blogging (which is it)...kekeke! ;D I wouldn't have chosen to sit on the floor for long periods of time as it can get uncomfortable. Ah, I would approve of the tori karaage too because it's resting on the exact same plate that I have...wahahahaha! :D I don't think I've been served Japanese fried rice with sambal before...Japanese-Malaysian fusion? :P

    1. hee..hee... I missed the interaction and camaraderie! And I felt so left out... So it's good to be back.

Well, sitting on the floor, one time is enough, no more! Ah, those Fujisawa guys must have shopped at Daiso wahahaha!!! The sambal is probably to suit our local taste and I am all for it hee..hee...

  2. Did you get a good rest from writing posts? I see you are very diligent visiting us and left us interesting comments for the past few days - thanks! :)
Hahahahaha, does your partner know that his legs and feet are now famous on your blog? Normally I will sit cross legged as your partner initial stance and then move a bit to prevent the legs from going to sleep. It must be difficult to sit with legs straight like you, hehehehe. Now I know how your legs and feet look like, can try to spot you around Uptown. You wear socks, hehehehe.

  3. hmmm nice 'sexy legs' of u and partner...LOL! I would usually sit like u too when in such Japanese/Korean restaurant. I was once having a business lunch in Korea where we sit on the floor, luckily I was wearing pants but still I couldn't sit comfortably.

  4. Waaah! You are back sooner and that's like winning a lottery! We should call ourselves as Blog Addicts.

I like that restaurant's ambiance with many bottles all the way up. This is really so Japanese style and you can see this typical messy styled places in Tokyo. I wanna visit this place too and sit on the floor.

I have a huge table in my living room like Japanese style where we could sit on the floor to eat or do computer work in front of the big TV.

MamaHong wears socks like a grandma! Your partner is so man and no socks! You got bunions!

    1. hah..hah... too boring lah...

I find the decor rather cluttered and very "luan". I have lost the ability to sit comfortably on the floor. Haiz...

      Hah..hah... I am obasan!

  9. Gee!!! Has it been a week already? Good grief! All those bottles by the side of the stairs! I am so clumsy I would surely end up kicking down a few of them. I had Japanese too that day - post in my blog tomorrow. Thankfully, I did not have to sit like that - they will need a fork lift to get me back on my feet again.

  13. That is a lot of bottles lining up the stairs.

I tried before, sitting on the floor but mostly have a hole below the table to put your legs down if you even feel uncomfortable.

I wonder how Japanese or even Korean can sit so comfortably having their meals like that. Lol. It is their culture, definitely not ours.

  14. tori karaage is one of my faves too, though it's an extremely guilty indulgence, heheh :D i'm good at sitting cross-legged, so i think i'd be ok here :D gosh, what i crave the most is time off to do nothing these days - being busy with work and deadlines is not natural or healthy for the human spirit, i think! :)
