Senya Shokdou, Istean Eat Paradise 1 Utama

It was one of the Friday evenings when we could not secure a seat at Chili's due to the buka puasa (breaking fast) crowd. So we made our way to Isetan Eat Paradise.

I have been to Senya Shokdou with my brother and based on the positive experience, I suggested to my partner that we dine there.

It was quite crowded at that hour (almost 8pm) but we managed to be seated fairly quickly.

We ordered a chicken karaage to share. This is a favorite of my partner's and he almost always orders this Japanese fried chicken.

I suppose he was in the mood for chicken that evening. He got the Tokyo Pork Don with Teriyaki Chicken. This meal came with some pickles and a bowl of miso soup.

I had the Hokkaido Pork Don with Spicy Garlic.

My meal came with a salad, miso soup, pickled ginger and mayo. The Hokkaido Pork Don was just as good as I remembered.

Then another evening, we returned (after trying our luck again at Chili's) and this time, I tried the Tokyo Pork Don with Unagi.

The portion size of the unagi was quite generous.

Unfortunately, it had a fishy smell, not quite as fresh as it should be.

My partner also had a Tokyo Pork Don with ladies fingers. No complaints from him, so I assumed he was happy.

The Tokyo Pork Don was very tasty and overall, I was quite happy with my dinner. Mr partner seems to appreciate the food here which means that there will be future visits. Yay!

  1. Unlike your partner, I almost always never order chicken at Japanese places...and that's because I'm afraid of it looking pale like that. I don't really like food that has no charred look...wahahahaha! ;D So, your Hokkaido pork don (that almost looks like grilled bacon) would be my pick too. I see you quietly 'sneaked' in the last photo of the chicken kaarage (in meal 2) that he almost always orders...hehe! ^_*

    1. hee..hee... when there is pork or chicken, pork wins hands down with me too at Japanese restaurants. That grilled pork is very good, you will like it. It has a smoky almost bak kwa kind of flavor. Yes, hee..hee.. that chicken karaage is from meal 2. That dish will always appear when we are at Japanese restaurants. He is very predictable :)

  3. wah, portions are quite hearty here - both the hokkaido and the tokyo pork don are practically spilling out of their bowls, and you can't even see the rice cos all the protein completely blankets it :D

  4. meat(pork) + meat (chicken) combination in a don, that's quite a lot of meat! I only had the Hokkaido Pork Don here as every time I wanted to order other dish, I couldn't resist the delicious looking photo in the menu, LOL

  5. so your partner must be happier eating here than at chilli's. He must be secretly rejoicing when chilli's was full on both occasions.

    1. It has been a long time I have not eaten at this restaurant since my Japanese client treated me. I must hint to him that I am hungry and let him treat me to this Hokkaido and Tokyo don. They are new dishes to me.

Sorry I deleted the earlier comments but hopefully you could read in the notification email. Heeheehee
