Inspired : Food Prep!

As you may have noticed, I have been eating out a lot lately, moving the economy at Damansara Uptown heh..heh... I have gotten lazy and have not been doing any food preps for myself.

I used to food prep here, here and here. And then I got tired of the routine and the food. So I ate out. But there is only so much you can eat from outside and I got tired of that too.

Lately, I noticed some restaurants have called it a day.

Go Street Noodle
Lambogi

Pudu Chan Fatt has been closed for many weeks now. Don't know if they are still in operation or changed business hours.
Even the bakery Boite a Bijoux which was subsequently taken over by another bakery (can't remember the name) was not spared.

The bakery used to be beside Uncle JJ's which also appears to have closed.

Some have decided to move.

When I went looking for HK Boy Cart Noodle, this was what I found.

So it is time to cook lunch again. So what inspired me? I discovered a blog called Downshiftology from the blog's food prep videos that I stumbled upon.

I was so inspired by Lisa and I told myself that I really have to prepare my own meals again.

There you have it. I don't know how long I will keep this up.

Baked Meatballs
Roasted Pork

Hard boiled eggs

Roasted French Beans. Do not attempt this. It was awful.

Sauteed Mushrooms. Yummeh!

Blanched broccoli. I have developed an aversion for roasted broccoli. Don't know why.
Sliced cucumbers.
It looks like a lot of food for one person. But it is meant for lunch and dinner for 4 days. We'll see how well I do and I hope to keep this up.

  1. looks good & well balanced! u r storing cooked food for 4 days? i'm kind of skeptical about its nutrient & freshness (if i m to store food more than 2 days), so i would prefer freshly cooked food, if not just go tapao from stalls.

    1. Nutrient wise, I can't comment as I don't know but I know that the food stays fresh for four days.

  2. Keep it up PH!

I like the containers that you're using. Where did you bought them?

    1. I bought from a few places. The stainless steel ones from Daiso, the round ones from Aeon, Popular Bookstore and Miniso and the rectangle ones also from Aeon.

  3. So good that you know how to cook, so that when you get tired of outside food, you can food prep yourself. I like all the ingredients you showed here for your food prep esp the baked meatballs

  4. Wow at your home prep food! LOL at "Roasted French Beans. Do not attempt this. It was awful". I have eaten french beans raw and it was awful too, hahahaha! I think french beans taste best when lightly stir fried with garlic. Do update us on this home prep food adventure, ok? Would like to see what other food that you prep.

  5. Same here, a lot of places have closed down, economy really bad and this new Malaysia sure isn't helping one bit. Meanwhile, there are a lot of new places too and are doing well- usually people will go and try. Hopefully, they will survive.

    1. I see new makan places come and go. Quite hard for them to sustain. Been like that for the last few years and worse now.

  6. I've been inspired by you to do food prep too :) I can see why those places closed (Pudu Chan Fatt & HK Boy Cart Noodle) as they weren't really all that good. The first two I haven't been but from what you posted, the food didn't entice at all. As for Fat Spoon, I've only been there once. Food places come and go very fast these days.

    1. Oh really, thanks hee..hee... Based on Pudu Chan Fatt's wanton mee, I sort of guessed they won't survive. But I do feel sad for the lady. So much investment and effort gone into the restaurant.

  7. I am a prepare-in-advance-girl too. Isn't it surprising how quickly places come and go around KL?
