Morning Food Prep

There was a time when I was very conscientious and I did my meal prep every weekend. Then I got bored with the food.

Then I turned back to this :

This :

This :

and occasionally this :

And then I got bored with those. Haiz....  Besides the chap fan food was not as good as it used to be.

So I decided to get back on the food prep wagon. But not bulk cooking because I admit, freshly cooked food taste best.

This is what I did :

I buy chicken thighs and marinate the whole lot and stick them in the freezer. Yeah, pretty much like what I did here.

I cut the broccoli in big florets so that they don't overcook. That would be 180C for 25 minutes.

About 5 minutes before time, I add French beans.

Looks like a decent meal. Since I am taking this to the office, I use my kitchen scissors to debone the chicken and cut the vegetables smaller.

Besides chicken thighs, I also use marinated pork loin.

Same modus operandi

Nicely packed to go. Obviously the packed meals you see here were cooked during the weekend (for illustration purposes) since I would not have time to take photos in the morning.

So far, I am quite happy with these home cooked meals. I hope to keep up.

Is it a hassle? Diplomatic answer - no, honest to God answer - yes. It all depends on your attitude.

  2. Thumb up to your home cook meal... Nowadays, I anyhow eat for lunch, my dinner will be assorted mushroom only, without rice or noodle, etc...

  3. If that glass container is the same one as I have, then I k now it's not very big in size...and that would mean the portion will not be enough to fill me up especially since there are no carbs like rice or potatoes. I think I may need three portions...haha! ;)

    1. Yup, those are small containers and true enough they are not quite adequate for a super tanker like me hah...hah.... If I have a heavy breakfast, they fill me up fine.

  5. What a cleber lady!

You always make cooking to look easy peasy.

I will definitely do this since I just need to squeeze out my Heinz's BBQ sauce over the chicken and pop it into oven with lots of cauliflowers & carrots! I think I will loose 5 kgs in one week.

  7. Thumbs up to you for the effort. Your lunch boxes look so good and healthy - well balanced between meat and vegetables but will you be full after eating this for lunch? If I ever ever suddenly magically turned diligent, I will use lamb, beef, egg or fish for the meat and the same vegetables as yours. So tasty!

    1. I don't cut through the bone, only the flesh. My kitchen scissors are those ordinary ones.

  16. I wonder why my roasted chicken always release so much juices on the baking tray, yours looked perfectly dry. :(

    1. There was some juice released after I marinated it, maybe that's why it was dryish.
