Yes, I do get the blah and have no motivation to do my food prep. And I also admit that I do get tired of my own food.
So one day I was fooling around with Youtube and started searching for food prep videos. Whoa! What a revelation. Other people do it too and I was amazed that some of them steam their vegetables and then put those veggies in the freezer.
Some are health and fitness enthusiasts who even weigh their portions.
And some just want to show you how gorgeous they are.
So here I share with you some of the videos I found which gave me a lot of motivation (and amusement) and gave my flagging enthusiasm a real boost.
Perhaps you will be motivated too.
Watching all of them make me more scared. Wah so much work! hehehehe lazy me. Hope to your food prep on utube too! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a lot of work hah..hah...sometimes, I dread it.
DeleteI thought you have a 'library' of cook books to fall back on.
ReplyDeleteThat's the problem with me. My cookbooks are only for decoration hah..hah...
DeleteYou need to cook and eat with fun and at leisure pace. Remember that you are not a housewife, so with little time for the kitchen, you need to be pampered too. I watched all the videos and they all reminded me of my mother who was a housewife yet she did all that kind of prep work. Now I have better idea how she coped with so much dishes over the years and often throwing home parties. Thanks for sharing the videos.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, I have very little time in the kitchen and that is why I have to invest a lot of time on Sunday to get my meals done. It is worth the trouble but honestly, it can be tedious, depending on my mood.
DeleteWeigh? No, thanks. I just eat till I'm satisfied...and at times, finish off what my girl or the mum can't finish too. Hehehehehe!!!!
ReplyDeleteNo weighing for me too. And yes, I like the "dewan bandaraya" job at the dinner table too :D
DeleteThumb up to you for all the preparations of foods that you have prepared...
ReplyDeleteMe, lazy person...
Sometimes, I am lazy too....
DeleteJia You, PH! Determination ada! As for me, I always prefer fresh on the same day, that is why I seldom cook, don't like to keep overnight food for I know I wont be eating it the next day even though it is in the freezer. Very picky, ME!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I also prefer freshly cooked food but no choice lah. Some dishes are OK cooked in advance but others fail.
DeleteSome want to show you how gorgeous they are....by that you mean not the food but their slim bodies, right? That's a damper....kekeke! I see one also went to the trouble to make cauliflower rice, so you go girl, you can make it if you want to. I've recently started to do some food prep too...after learning from you...hehe! ;) It does safe you some money and relieve you of precious time when you have none.
ReplyDeleteAh, you do food prep too! Good for you. This weekend, I shall be busy with mine after some motivation hee..hee..
DeleteI always prepare the food and eat it straight away :D Just can't Wait! :D
ReplyDeleteThat's the best way to eat!
DeleteI saw one meal prep video on Facebook, the food looks so simple and tasty!
ReplyDeleteIt looks easy and delicious on those videos :)
DeleteHi Phong Hong, thanks for searching and sharing meal prep ideas. I'm not sure if my hubby will accept this idea, maybe he can if I don't tell him 'everything'. Honestly, some food can be prepared way ahead but some can't. There is a choice to make and decide.
ReplyDeleteHi Kimmy! This cooking ahead thing is more for people like me who can't face the kitchen on work days hah..hah... You are right, some food do not taste good the next day.
DeleteSometimes I do cook extra and keep half the portion in the freezer for next meal but it depends on what type of dish. I wouldn't be able to follow and do all the preparation work. I am just too lazy, I will just end up munching some biscuits, fruits or whatever I can find in the house. Or I will just tapau something. I admire your diligence and commitment.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am not diligent all the time hah..hah...Sometimes laziness creeps in and I just tapau! hah...hah....
DeleteHi Phong Hong,
ReplyDeleteI tried prepared food so call "healthy lunch" to office daily for about 3 weeks. Very tedious as I cook/make in the morning or a night before as I still prefer to eat them straight away. Seeing these made me wanna start again.
Yup, I know how you feel. I have also started again after not feeling so good after eating chap fan :(
DeleteI'm so tired of my cooking, too. With all the food blogs I visit, you'd think I'd get a little more creative!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, well, it is certainly comforting to know that I am not the only one experiencing fatigue!
DeleteActually the actual videos are alright, but the last 3 videos' thumbnail... very misleading and click bait-y... tsk!
ReplyDeleteLast week, I mentioned to my mom about pre-cooking for the week, and earned a very big TSK!!!! from her. She even said she wants to visit me to check on my kitchen to prevent me from doing it so frequently. According to my mom, pre-cooked food too frequently = cancer risk... Sigh... maybe I'll not do it so much now...
How so? Maybe she is referring to pre-cooked food that are re-heated in plastic containers. Always use glass or ceramic/corningware. But I shan't argue with your mum. She most likely prefers you to eat freshly cooked food :)
DeleteWhat ever you do it must be done with love and patience. So much work in meal prep.
ReplyDeleteBut I do it sometimes. Cook and freeze my food. Only meats, not veggies.
Too much work but it had to be done :(
DeleteGreat round-up of food videos, dear! Good food needs patience I guess. xoxo
ReplyDeleteLoads of patience which I don't have sometimes...
DeleteI am a very lazy person so I go to the chak fun aunty and tapau meat and vege for 5 days and freeze it up!hahaha very lazy....
ReplyDeleteOh, I thought I was bad hah..hah...
