Another year has passed and I am now 51. When I turned 50 it felt quite celebratory because I crossed that halfway line to half a century. So for the next 9 years it will be the same old same old and then I get excited at 60. Hah!
It was just another day and my first birthday wish came from my auntie in NZ at 4:06 a.m. Then from my brother and then mum. My partner's greeting did not come until I was busy tucking into my lunch. Men. They forget these things. LOL!
So anyway. I had a quiet birthday and I just hung out on my own at A Foodie's Nest@The Starling.
It was very peaceful. The day before I was thinking what to eat. Last year I celebrated at The Good Batch and I had a really enjoyable lunch. At the time, I told myself, I will come back for my next birthday. But after a few recent visits, I'm afraid the Good Batch is not what it used to be.
So I figured I should just eat what I enjoy most at a place I am most comfortable at. So there I was. While waiting for my food, I was amused to see the sign on the left.
No sleeping? Then I saw someone sleeping.
He must be very tired. Poor thing.
Ah! Lunch. My favorite. My partner in his message asked me to go eat mee suah. Where got mee suah here?
So this wat tan hor will have to do. Look at that. The plate runneth over with goodies galore.
I asked for double dose of pickled green chilies.
Then back at the office, I allowed myself a Snickers bar.
Haven't had this for ages. So good!
Birthday dinner. Sendiri sponsor, sendiri makan. My partner had a dinner date with a friend who returned from overseas. So we did not have dinner like we did before.
I had a sudden craving for Nene Chicken. In spite of my fully loaded wat tan hor lunch, I managed to down 5 pieces of freakin hot chicken. And a tub of coleslaw.
This is terrible. I must go back on diet next week. Or maybe the week after. We'll see. Happy Birthday to me.
Happy birthday to you! I am waiting for my 50th birthday if I can reach it so congrats to you for reaching it. Birthday is a special day so let loose and eat! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun! I have been letting loose and eating lots of carbs hee....hee...
DeleteDidn't you just had wat tan hor the other day? ;) You must really like this one. I think that sleepy poor chap is one of their workers. I've encountered this before at restaurants and that's because their employers do not provide a space for them to relax in between service (like during downtime between lunch and dinner), so they have no choice and usually uses one furthest away from the entrance. >.<
ReplyDeletehee..hee... yes, I just had wat tan hor the other day and wanted more! I think lack of space is why the employers are unable to provide a resting place. I have seen many workers taking their break at the foodcourt and other parts of the mall.
DeleteBelated Happy Birthday Phong Hong!
ReplyDeleteThere are pork liver in your plate of Wat Dan Hor which I think Kirs will be happy to see that :)
Thank you, Choi Yen! I love those liver slices :)
DeleteHappy birthday PH! Many happy returns.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Puan Hazel!
DeleteHappy Birthday!!! My! My! You are SO young!!! Ya, my girl, she can't eat mee sua now, not gluten-free so she will have to make do with hung ngang (the big bihun).
ReplyDeleteThank you, Arthur! Young, eh? hee..hee... I suppose hung ngang is just as good as mee sua.
DeleteHappy birthday to you!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very relaxing birthday treat. I like what you have. So true, should enjoy what you love on your special day.
Poor guy. Sleeping there. I guess this place has frequent sleepers there, so hence the sign disallowing people to sleep. Lol.
Thank you, Rose! Must enjoy my food while I still can :)
DeleteThe next world cup i will be 50 Lol.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday PH, may you enjoy abuundant blessings, good heath and happiness!
I usually see people sleeping in fast food restaurants or the public library but not restaurants like these as it would be too obvious
Or is this a Foodcourt?
DeleteThank you, Libby! This place is a foodcourt.
DeleteHappy Birthday Phong Hong! the wat tan hor looks good, I want to have a plate too!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am addicted to the wat tan hor hee...hee...
