Birthday Ramen

My birthday bash continues. Well, not exactly a bash but a quiet dinner for two. At first I thought my partner had forgotten. It didn't bother me because at my age, I really don't need to be reminded that I am no longer a spring chicken. Hah!

He wished me later in the day and of course I was delighted when he suggested dinner. But wait. Let me show you how I started my day with cake. Not a birthday cake but cake that I baked earlier and stashed in the freezer.

Defrosted in the fridge the night before.

My Blueberry Lemon Zuchinni Bread. It looks ghastly but still tasted heavenly.

Taken with a mug of hot kopi-O. It was a good start to the day.

My partner is very traditional. He said that on your birthday, you must eat mee sua or any long noodles for longevity. Did I hear noodles? Does ramen qualify? Of course!

So there was my excuse to go to Tokyo Ramen@Atria (updated : this restaurant has closed down) again. This time, I must try the Special Dragon Miso Ramen.

Oooohhh....this has got to be the best of the best ramen as far as I am concerned. I was a bit apprehensive of the 3 chili sign on the menu (indicating very spicy) but I thought to myself, if Mun can handle it, I am sure I can too.

The broth was thick with very robust flavors. It was spicy but not so spicy that you will hit the roof. So no worries if you are accustomed to spicy food. But of course, those who are sensitive to chilies, this may not be a good choice for you.

This time I recommended my partner to choose the Special Miso Ramen. For those of you who cannot tolerate spiciness, this is the ramen for you.

No comparisons were made to Maggi Mee this time and since my partner did not make any comments, I take it that it was good for him.

I was in ramen heaven that evening. I am not exaggerating when I say that this has got to be the ultimate ramen (OK, I haven't tried that many) and I am not going to bother ordering any ramen other than this one.

Need I say more?

  1. Love the bowl, I've a soft spot for blue & whites. These days when one can key in reminders onto one's handphone or smartphone, no more excuses for forgetting birthdays. :D

  6. Is this the lemon blueberry zucchini cake you baked the last time? If so, your frozen cake has been in your freezer for like what 2 months? It still tasted heavenly coz it was a heavenly cake to begin with ;) Since you now enjoy ramen so much, there are lots more good ones out there waiting for you to discover...go, go, go! ^_*

    1. I made sure the cake was kept in airtight bag, so the moisture is preserved.
