What To Eat? What To Eat?

There's lots to eat at Damansara Uptown. Just go to The Starling or walk along the shophouses and you will find lots of restaurants, coffeshops and cafes. In spite of this, I sometimes find myself wondering what to eat...

I know, I know.... I am supposed to be bringing food from home and all that healthy crap but it takes a lot of effort to cook and it's really not so exciting eating the same things for a few days.

So. I went back to Seng Kee Chicken Rice to try their Katong Laksa. Just curious.

Looks promising. The broth was quite nice. It's like a cross between prawn mee and curry mee.

You can choose your noodles and I like hor fun. In the bowl you will find taufoo pok, prawns (they were crunchy), half an egg and beansprouts.

There is also a small serving of sambal that comes with it. Not bad at all this Katong Laksa.

On another day, it was back to Annie-1 for the Pork Noodles.  This used to be on rotation in their weekday lunch specials but is now a permanent feature on the menu.

They ran out of kuay teow so I settled for yellow mee.

The chee yau char is served separately. Three big pieces, very crispy and flavorful. I wish I could have more.

On yet another day, it was Mr Tuk Tuk for the Thai Basil Beef and Som Tam.

I know some people find basil "smelly" but I love it.

I thought this serving of Som Tam was very generous. I enjoyed it. The rice and beef alone would not have been enough to fill me up.

And the rest of the time, I eat good old chap fan at Home Kitchen.

  1. I cringed when I saw the chap fan photo...and that's because there's no rice and the dishes all looked dark and savoury. I find it difficult to eat savoury-saucy dishes without rice (but that's just me).

I wish I could try the Katong Laksa but since the only thing worthwhile eating here was the poached chicken and my family doesn't like that and didn't find the siew yoke and char siew good enough, there's no revisiting for me, I'm afraid.

    1. hah..hah... I guess I am used to it. I can also eat curry and vegetables just like that, no rice. Well, the Katong Laksa was nice but not extraordinary, so even if you don't get a chance to try it, no big deal.

  2. Everything looks good, even the chap fan looks like a class above the ones we can get here. Not really a fan of Katong laksa - the outlets here of that Singapore franchise have all closed down.

    1. The chap fan at this shop is good, obe of the better ones around. As for Katong Laksa, I still prefer the regular curry laksa.

  5. I always voted Annie-1's Pork Noodles as the world's best I have eaten. Yums!
Someday I must try this new Katong Laksa that sounds funny but interesting to try.
As for Tuk-Tuk, it is my top choice and value for money. I must change and explore their menu as I always ordered same dishes. I know I am boring at meal times.

  6. I love the taste of Thai Basil but the Thai Basil Beef looks like having too much gravy in the dish.
