Just in case you thought that I am so good for staying on a low carb diet, I do deviate from time to time. I was badly behaved one particular day.
After eating the wanton mee at Pudu Chan Fatt Wanton Mee (CLOSED), I returned to eat their Curry Laksa.
Look at that. So beautifully red and filled to the brim with beancurd puffs (taupok), fried beancurd skin, poached chicken and my choice of noodles.
I have a thing for koay teow, so that was my choice. The laksa gravy was quite lemak. Not bad at all although I still prefer the one at you-know-where.
But I enjoyed it enough to finish 3/4 of the gravy. And I am happy to note that I did not experience any bloating or thirst which means that there was no (or very little) msg in the laksa. The sambal belacan was pretty good and accompanied the curry laksa perfectly.
It was a very stressful day at the office. And stress means I am in need of comfort eating. My curry laksa was digested rather quickly too. So. I had to have another carbo fix a little later in the day.
Japanese laksa hee..hee... This was at Mitsuyado Sei-Men@The Starling. Instead of tsukemen, I had the Spicy Ramen & Half-Boiled Egg.
Am I happy or what? Love the smoky flavor of the spicy broth. So happy that I can enjoy a bowl of ramen on a work day.
I thoroughly enjoyed my second dose of spicy noodles for the day. So satisfied. So happy. So fat. Haiz..............
Japanese laksa?? I did not know Japanese eats laksa. Must be a fusion dish. I know Japanese curry, not laksa.
ReplyDeleteAnd wow! Your curry laksa was fiery!!
hah..hah...I was just kidding. It's spicy ramen and I call it Japanese Laksa :)
DeleteI know you so well when you said you-know-where! I can read your shadows & mind too. I believe that Annie cooks the best curry laksa in KL.
ReplyDeleteSo I must try your "Japanese Laksa". Why on earth are there so many laksa now?
#LaksaSial #ConfusedDotCom #AnnieSedap #PHgilaLAKSA
I haven't tried many curry laksa but I am happy to stick to Annie's :)
DeleteWhoa, the curry has a very nice colour. I must go and try...fast, fast! ;) I'm amazed at how you're able to handle no carbs on one day and then go carb-fest on another...not easy. Looks like you're quite a regular at this ramen and tsukemen place...but a bowl of noodles at RM40 takes its toll on the pocket :( When it comes to Japanese curry, no fight-lah with our local curry...wahahahaha! :D
ReplyDeleteYes, go and try and let me know what you think :) I am used to having carb swings hee..hee..hee..
DeleteWow...teringin nak cuba Japanese Laksa tu PH.. hihi
ReplyDeletehah..hah...spicy ramen ala ala laksa tu...
DeleteThe Japanese laksa is so tempting... hehe...
ReplyDeletehee..hee..
DeleteJapanese laksa. Lol
ReplyDeleteIt looks like, right? hah..hah...
DeleteI would hantam the local laksa anytime, looks good! Extra tau fu pok for me, yum! I don't really like Japanese curry, so I would probably pass on that.
ReplyDeleteActually that was spicy ramen hee..hee.. Me too not a fan of Japanese curry.
DeleteHi Phong Hong, like Joyce I will go for the local laksa [in Penang, we call this noodle, curry mee]. Love the tofu puff and the spicy rich flavour of the santan soup. Anyway, it is a matter of familiarity of taste and flavour.
ReplyDeleteHi Kimmy! I have yet to try Penang version. Must be very ho chiak!
DeleteSo how does Sarawak laksa compare to the two?
ReplyDeletehmmm....I can't quite remember the taste because I ran out of the paste. hint...hint... LOL!
Delete2 bowls of spicy noodles in the same day! Keng! will this new ramen restaurant, you don't have to go to Atria to enjoy a delicious bowl of ramen d.
ReplyDeletehee..hee...that's why I cannot lose weight :( Yes, I am happy that there is a ramen place near me!
DeleteJapanese laksa? I think I still prefer our own Malaysian curry laksa with coconut milk and all. My kids absolutely love Japanese curry so I cooked that last week for the very first time. Don't think I will cook it again!
ReplyDeleteActually that was spicy ramen hee..hee... Yeah, Japanese curry not to my taste either.
DeleteI love noodles too.. swmua nampak sedap
ReplyDeleteMe too...sebab tu lah makan sampai dua kali hah..hah..
Deletehaha, when i saw the title, i was wondering, oooo, what's japanese laksa ... so the revelation put a smile on my face :D
ReplyDeletehah..hah...my dad would have referred to the spicy ramen as Japanese Laksa, that was how I got the idea :)
DeleteIndeed the Curry Laksa was so beautifully red, too spicy for me though
ReplyDeleteSore throat, right? Poor you.
DeleteCannot enjoy spicy food as and when I like :(
Deleteboth laksa looks yummy!

Amie, thank you! Satu mangkuk tak cukup lah. hah..hah...
DeleteSpicy food! Both I love! Mouth watering photos!
ReplyDeleteHigh-5!
DeleteI like the appearance of that curry too, and my default noodles for curry would be yellow noodles :P
ReplyDeleteIt used to be yellow noodles for me but now graduated to koay teoe pulak.
DeleteKew tiew in kuah Kari, can try this one, but..Kew tiew quite oily kan, then the kuah Kari pun berlemak, haiyaa..
ReplyDeleteI think they all celur dulu untuk buang minyak. Tak tau lah.
