Addict Chicken Rice@Damansara Uptown

Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival and to those celebrating, I hope you are having a lovely time with your loved ones.

For me, there is no festivity going on, in fact this year I am not indulging in any of these mooncakes.

My auntie in NZ sent me a photo of her grandson making snow skin mooncakes.

Ah! A young budding pastry chef, eh?

So today, we went to tapau food at Addict Chicken Rice.

This chicken rice restaurant took over the space vacated by Seng Kee Chicken Rice.

Being very new, I was attended to by a very enthusiastic lady.

This menu is pasted on the glass panel of the serving counter.

I put in an order for Roasted Chicken with Roasted Pork Rice for my partner and Lower Quarter Kampung Chicken for me, no rice obviously.

While waiting, I observed the surroundings.

They accept payment by e-wallet which is good.

The layout is pretty much the same as the previous tenant and any renovation works is minimal.

So there you go. My partner's meal. He cannot do without rice and would probably  tell me, chicken rice with no rice, where got meaning? No complaints from him, so I assume this packet of chicken rice meets his expectations.

This is mine and oh yes, it was very good, fresh and tasty. But this portion is too little for me. I reckon I can eat half a chicken hah...hah... with some siew yoke thrown in for good measure.

I enjoyed the ginger and scallion dip. So aromatic! I hope they can maintain their standards.

Outside the shop, I spotted this little kitty. Girl probably looked like this when she was a kitten.

This was my partner's lunch yesterday at don't know-where. He is a rice man and he is fine eating loads of carbs. I can't eat like that, if I did, the brain fog and anxiety comes right back. I don't want that. A few moments of pleasure and a few hours (or a couple of days) of torture is not worth it.

This is my dinner. A hunk of steak, butter and eggs. Zero carbs. Nyum!

  1. Of course you can eat half a chicken coz without rice/carbs you won't be full. I see you finally ate your chicken with at least a condiment of ginger paste. These condiments (besides soy & chilli dip) really make a difference. Hopefully you went to tapau at an odd hour coz the place looks deserted! >.<

It's strange that you've been eating carbs your whole life (and feel relatively fine until you started this carnivore diet) but if you eat carbs now, you'll have to endure days of torture and your anxiety comes right back? It would seem that you might never be able to enjoy carbs again (not even on cheat days)! :O

    1. We went there early, before 11am, that's why it was so quiet.

Well, I thought I was fine and I thought I was relatively healthy but what a difference a change in diet made. I feel so much more alive and vibrant and awake! No more feeling depressed and anxious and I am quite calm and happy these days. You are quite right, after eliminating carbs from my system I become a lot more sensitive to it. I consider it a toxin LOL! I am quite happy with my new way of eating as I feel so well. My inflammation marker (c-reactive protein) dropped from 1.8 to 0.8 and I think this is remarkable.

    2. I don't know what this inflammation marker is and what it represents (I don't see this in any of my yearly medical check-up/blood test results). Perhaps you may find out more if you do a full blood test or a full lipid study to check on total cholesterol components such as triglyceride, HDL & LDL. I don't think there will be any significant changes when one is eating differently for only 4 months as it can take years before anything develops. Just continue with your medical check-up on a yearly basis to ensure nothing is amiss. Take care.

    3. The test which includes c-reactive protein is a bit more expensive and you have to see which blood test package offers that. Yes, my test included triglyceride, HDL, LDL.

  2. Happy Mid Autumn to you. Nothing special today, just stay at home. Taste some mooncake, that is it. The poached chicken looked good. Make me want to eat chicken rice tomorrow. Lol.
