Dahmakan Made Me Lazy : Part 4 and Final

I started ordering less and less from Dahmakan because I got tired of the meals and I was not happy with the quality and consistency of the food.

One of my major complaint is the lack of variety of vegetables and the way the vegetables are cooked.

Like in this Beef Stew. Hard carrots, overcooked broccoli.

I did not like the Beef Stew because it was not the beef stew I was expecting. This one tasted very much like the Beef Chilli Con Carne that I tried earlier (except that one was delicious). There was way too much cumin in this beef stew.

Next I tried this fantastic looking Beef Ragu Fettuccine.

What was in the box looked pretty good as well.

I thought the beef ragu was delicious but sadly the fettuccine was overcooked and soggy. The cherry tomatoes were lightly roasted and were very juicy and enjoyable.

It being a weekend, I gave myself a treat by getting an Apple Crumble.

It wasn't as pretty as in the photo.

The filling was paste-like, not sweet enough and did not have any apple or cinnamon flavor. It was all flat and bland.

I enjoyed the beef ragu so much that I ordered it again.

Again, the pasta was overcooked and the beef ragu was not as good as the first time. But on a positive note, the portion size was just as generous.

In conjunction with the recent Deepavali celebration, Dahmakan introduced a few Indian inspired dishes. I tried this Masala Royale.

It was very fragrant and heavily spiced. Generous portions and for once the carrots were very tender. There was even a side of pickled onions. But I overall found the meal too oily and heavy.

Then I was attracted to this Black Pepper Spaghetti.

A very good generous portion of chicken leg and spaghetti awaited me in the box with a serving of black pepper sauce.

But it was so bland and oily. Even the chicken was bland. I added freshly cracked black pepper and (roughly chopped) Italian parsley to jazz it up.

As I was eating this in front of the TV, my cat came up to me eyeing my food. So I gave her a small piece of chicken. Then she came back for more. Haiz...

My sleepyhead cat.
So that was my last Dahmakan meal and I terminated my Select membership. But I am open to future possibilities. Who know I might get lazy again hee...hee...

  1. I dont fancy masala. Maybe the spice too much to my liking. Haha. I guess lioe any other places, DahMakan also have inconsistency and quality control.

  3. Like you, my last dahmakan post was also my final one. Now that they're focussed on providing the cheap-er meals (not what I want..but perhaps what the office workers want), I don't see myself ordering all that much from now on (it'll be limited to just those one-off meals when I spot a premium one I like). I also agree with you on the inconsistency of cooking of their meals (the beef ragu do look very different in both your meals actually!), the hard vegetables and the lack of variety/portion.
P/S: I'm very happy to see your cat relaxing on your sofa inside the house (they look so cute when they're resting) on a towel of her own. So I see you've gotten over the phobia of her scratching your stuff...that's good! ;)

    1. Perhaps those cheaper meals are their best sellers and they want to focus on that. Oh, my cat hee..hee... she has now taken residence on my favorite spot on the sofa. Haiz......

  7. Oh dear, not being consistent is no good!

I'm ordering less now too but my issues are always the late delivery.

    1. My deliveries are sometimes late and sometimes they surprise me by being early LOL!

  8. It is so tempting to just get food delivery. I don't like the single use trash that goes with it. Still hoping that someone will come up with a better option - healthy, tasty food in reusable containers at a reasonable price - I will be their number one customer.

    1. They should have an option for us to choose if we want cutleries. I like it that Grabfood has that option.
