My auntie is back! Yes, my auntie. The one who grows beautiful roses and is a good cook. When I asked her what she wanted to eat, she said chicken rice!
The only good place I know in Damansara Uptown is Seng Kee Chicken Rice. But this place can be inconsistent. The last time my partner and I visited (it's in my draft folder hah..hah...) we were disappointed.
So I could only hope that the chicken rice is good when I brought my auntie there.
I ordered two bowls of rice, quarter poached chicken (leg portion), char siew/siew yoke and beansprouts.
For drinks, my auntie had Chinese tea while I had kopi o kosong(local black coffee with no sugar).
I was very pleased (and relieved) that the poached chicken turned out tender, moist and tasty. The chicken rice was very flavorful too.
The char siew was very lean but flavor wise it was good with none of the cloying sweet sauce that I experienced on an earlier visit. The siew yoke seemed to have improved from the last time.
As always, the beansprouts did not disappoint.
My auntie enjoyed the lunch right down to the chilli/ginger dip and soup. She shared with me that if you want your soups to be sweet, add dried figs. Hmmm... I shall try that one of these days.
I'm really glad that Seng Kee Chicken Rice served up a really good lunch that day.
While passing by The Starling, I noted that Nando's is opened but that day they were hosting a private event.
I'll probably drop by one of these days for the peri peri chicken just to see if I still feel the same about it.
Glad the chicken rice was good. Bet your auntie enjoyed her meal.

DeleteLong time I haven't eaten chicken rice. A delicious lunch with your aunt. I will have to try adding figs to my soups in future.
