Pre-Christmas Dinner

Just before Christmas, I see Christmas trees everywhere, even at Yok Tho Hing, a place where I wouldn't expect to see one.

While waiting for our food to be served, I noticed that their 2019 Chinese New Year menu is already out. Wow. So fast.

These days, you don't need to slave in the kitchen. Just outsource!

Or eat out. The dinner sets look quite affordable but it does not say for how many people.

Back to our dinner. My partner wanted roast duck, so I chose the breast portion. I have no issues with duck breast. It is chicken breast that I dislike.

The Three Flavored Pork Ribs tasted like a combination of butter sauce and plum sauce. A bit strange tasting to me but my partner liked it.

We love plain fried spinach with garlic and salt.

Same thing with the kailan. Simplicity is best.

That was a very good dinner. Merry Christmas!

    1. I hope so too, most places refrain from serving sharks fin nowadays.

  2. Duck breast for me too! Usually CNY sets cater to 10 people. So for small family like mine, I still have to sweat and cook in the kitchen.

  3. i'm looking for things to take away for my family dinner at home too, so this looks good. my family enjoys poultry, so maybe the roast duck, salted chicken with wine, and eight treasure duck would be perfect :D

  10. I see that even though you complained about the small portions, you continue to eat at this place...you must really like it. So, because of the small portions, you need to order four dishes...hehe! ;) For me, I think the most prized part of a duck is the breast (I don't care if some think the drumstick or another part is the most prized part...haha!).

Just the other day, I wanted to tapau duck rice and asked for the breast. The lady owner said it was too early and they don't have breast yet. What nonsense! There were so many ducks hanging in the restaurant. I think she was just reserving the breast for those who order the whole duck or half duck. In the end, I reluctantly accepted another part and found it to be so bony, I gave up eating it. From now on, if someone tries to 'push' another part to me, I'll say no thank you and if they're not going to give me breast, I'll just walk away.

    1. The food here is quite good and the prices reasonable hence the frequent visit. Wah, the lady owner could tell you that in spite of ducks already hanging in the shop. Tsk! Getting a bony part is a no no. Not worth the money paid.
