My Favorite Yellow Chicken

I noticed that my old post Mummy's Chicken Garam Kunyit appeared on my sidebar recently (at the time of writing) and when I revisited that post, I was appalled by the photos.

Back then, I was using a point and shoot camera, a hand me down from my brother. I have since upgraded to a DSLR but my photography still has a long way to go. But I am happy to note that I have improved much.

I cooked this dish because I had some chicken pieces in the freezer. Besides, I missed it and it is one of my favorites. Not only that, it is keto compliant since there is no sugar in this dish.

You may have noticed there is no cooking or baking post in the last couple of weeks. That's because I spend Saturday mornings with my parents. Although I come home after lunch, that time is dedicated to housekeeping, laundry and such. Usually, all these are done early morning and my baking/cooking is done mid-morning.

Sundays? Well, that's grocery day and food prep day. So, no time for trying out any new recipes. But last Sunday, I revisited this old recipe and took the opportunity to post it again.

I pounded the spice paste on Saturday and marinated the chicken. Come Sunday, it was easy peasy. Just heat up the oil and cook away!

I may have been a bit stingy on the oil as my dish was seriously lacking the delicious liquid gold. I blame this on lack of practice. When you haven't cooked a dish for a long time, you lose touch. But still, this Chicken Garam Kunyit tasted very good. Just like my mum's. For the recipe, please refer here.

  1. Less oil should be more healthy right? or does less oil affect the taste? looks good. I am sure that I would like it.

    1. More oil is better for this dish as the oil becomes very flavorful.

  2. The chicken must be good and delicious.

Sometime I refer back to my blog posts for recipe when I forgot the exact recipe for certain dish. I can't remember all in my brain. Haha. That is why I start a blog for. To keep recipe and important stuff in my life.

  3. I still use a point and shoot. Have thought of upgrading but I like the lightness of my little camera.

  4. Oh my! That looks good! We have something like this at my regular Malay food roadside stall so will just go there and buy when I feel like it, no need to cook my own. RM2.00-2.50 per drumstick!

  5. This is so yum yum chicken. I started to learn to use tumeric after seeing your earlier posts. I really marinated the chicken with tumeric and fried them crispy! Now this post today is tempting me too. Long hours of marinating is definitely a must.

You have definitely progressed a lot with your beautiful photography skills. I noticed that and could even give high marks & excellent comments. You are also a pet in your family, so continue to be a good daughter with your parents. Time is so precious and flies so fast. One day you will wake up like me and realized everything is like a good dream has ended.

    1. Thank you, TM :) Your compliments made my day. I am preparing myself mentally and emotionally for that dreaded day. Went through it when grandma and grandpa said goodbye and it is very sad.

  6. I'm still using a point and shoot...phone....kekeke! :D I don't think I'll ever bother with getting a camera coz it's confusing to use and adds weight to my bag. I look back at my earlier photos and I'm appalled too (that's because my camera settings were wrongly set then)! O_o
