Low Carbing@Pho Vietz : Big Fail

It is very difficult to go low carb when eating out. Somehow there will be carbs in all the dishes and even if there aren't  any, some of the elements may contain sugar which will also torpedo your plans.

Take this Prawn Salad for example. It comes with a gigantic piece of keropok. We know that it is made with flour, so that's not low carb.

There's not much salad. It's the way it is presented that give the impression that there's more than what you see.

Then I got these Grilled Pork Skewers. Nice.

But the dipping sauce is quite sweet, though very nice.

So, like it or not, the only way to control your carbs is to cook your own food.

  1. Haha, well, you can leave the keropok untouched. But I guess it was too much a temptation when it's right in front of you! ;) So, the low carbing was the Big Fail.....not Pho Vietz...hihihi! ;D

  2. Even in vegetables like broccoli there is carb - around 7g carb per 100g broccoli so you cannot have totally zero carb. A low carb meal is good enough as compared to cakes which have roughly 59g carb per 100g cakes. I am not sure how much carb there are in a piece of keropok. I wonder if anyone knows.

    1. Yes, true but it's very low in carbs unlike that keropok that probably has something in the region of 60g and above.

  4. That place is always packed with diners and that made me believe all their food must be good. There are lots of choices for no-carb diet like those rice paper veggie wraps and meat skewers. Their chilly sauce is straight from the bottle with squeezed lemon. I love Viet food.

    1. Those paper wraps are carbo as they are made from rice. Anyway, I shall go on moderate eating once I reach my goals. I tend to overeat time and time again.
