So, How's The Duck?

Today, mum's Grafood delivery arrived early. As usual, I give her a call when the rider is nearby.

Since mum's food arrived ahead of schedule (before 12:00pm) I had a good head start  to beat the lunch crowd at Ming Kee Cantonese. Yes, I visited again.

When I stepped inside, I noticed that the restaurant arranged more tables for lone diners. The table arrangement here is flexible as they can separate or join tables to accommodate the number of diners.

Today I wanted to try their roast duck.

This is the 1/4 portion (lower quarter).

The portion looked modest to me. So I called to a server to request to add on char siew (BBQ pork).

I had their Lemon Tea and I was very happy because there is no sugar in this drink. Very refreshing!

The duck was served with plum sauce and a chili dip.

I went barbarian (hah...hah...) with my plastic glove. Mmmm... the duck is good. I have no complaints. But my favorite is still my top choice. This comes a close second.

As I was finishing my duck, the char siew was served.

Oh! The char siew was luscious! But only the fatty portion. They gave me two variations. The portion you see at the front is fatty (yums!) while the one in the background was lean. So lean that it was hard and dryish.

Next time, I will specify that I want the fatty portion. The char siew was also served with chili dip and I felt that the dip was not necessary. It clashes with the taste of the char siew.

By this time, the restaurant was in full swing. The poor girl in front of me had to sit so close to the next table.

Judging from the food that I had so far and the good service, I think Ming Kee Cantonese will do well and stay in business here for a long time.

I waited quite a bit in a short queue to make payment.

Next time I will try the carbs heh..heh...

I am thinking of datenite here this week.

We better come early.

Update on my sciatica situation. I have made much recovery and after lunch I went for my post-meal walk at the mall.

Baskin Robbins is closed for renovations.

Pho Vietz is still under renovation. It has been more than a week now.

Guess who is coming to The Starling?

This is very tempting! Maybe one day. I used to eat loads of their frozen yogurt back in the day.

At Jaya Grocer, this leng chai was at the entrance. I don't know who he is - either a K-pop star or K-drama star.

I did not walk very long, just 10-15 minutes and I did not climb the escalators. While on the escalator, I did calf raises only, very discreet.

My back felt all right and my leg did not feel tired. I think by the end of the week, I will be all good, touch wood!

This is the favorite topic of many hah..hah...

  1. As a lone diner i actually don't mind sitting too close to the next table coz i enjoy the 'companion' and can eavesdrop the conversation😆
It's like sort of live radio program where the public talk about various issues & opinions on random topics😆
But if i m dining with people, i would mind coz i don't want others to eavesdrop our conversation😂
