I consider myself 95% recovered and I can move around with ease although I can still feel a little kink on the left side of my back.
The haze situation worsened and the decision to open schools in Selangor today had to be reversed. I looked at the sky and the haze is so thick that I could look at the sun directly.
As I write this post, it is raining very heavily (we had heavy rain last evening too). Perhaps it is good to clean the air.
So earlier today, I walked to DJ (wearing a mask) carrying some supplies for mum. I had already arranged for a Grafood delivery for her. Every Friday I visit mum for our weekly chit chat.
After the visit, I decided that I was well enough to walk to The Atria.
I wanted to visit Halla Holla (for old time's sake) at their new outpost. They relocated recently from their old location at the DJ shophouse to The Atria. They occupied the space that previously housed Tedboy Bakery.
Ordering is done at the counter (no more QR ordering like before). I actually prefer to order via QR where I can take my time to peruse the menu before placing my orders.
I asked the young man at the counter whether they still had their Sandwich of the Day. He was clearly not well trained and did not know how to respond (other than grinning sheepishly).
So I gave up and placed my order for the Beef Sandwich and Ice Latte. If you pay using Maybank or HSBC credit or debit card, you get 25% off the sandwich.
As I was waiting for my sandwich, the gentleman at the table next to mine was served. I heard him tell the server (the same young man who served me at the counter) "I thought I changed this to croissant".
The server was speechless and just stared at the gentleman. After a few seconds of awkward silence, the gentleman politely dismissed the server and just accepted his sandwich.
Oh dear. I think this situation has to be improved. Front line service staff must be proficient in communication skills to serve customers appropriately.
I couldn't read the message (since it was inverted) but I thought I saw something religious. Then I realized what I saw was Halla read backwards.
The sandwich was very generously filled with sliced roasted beef and melted cheese. But somehow I did not enjoy this like I used to. My taste for this sandwich has changed.
After my meal, I took a short walk to see if there has been any changes since my previous visit to the mall.
On my walk back, I noticed that the usual long line of cars was missing. The international school must be closed. In the distance, I can see the thick haze. I don't know how long this situation will last.
