Nowadays, when I cook fried rice, I add grated cauliflower so that (1) I eat less rice and (2) I still get to taste some real rice when I eat Cauliflower Fried Rice.
When I first came across Cauliflower Fried Rice and subsequently tried it, I liked it but I have since freed myself from a strict low carb diet after achieving my target. So now, I want some rice but not too much.
You know I eat a lot and there is no way that I could be satisfied with a small bowl of fried rice or half a plate of fried rice. When I eat, I eat!
So when I want to indulge in some good old fried rice at home, I mix half and half of rice and grated cauliflower. Not only do I reduce the amount of my carb intake, I get a good dose of veggies as well.
Since I can get fresh cauliflower from Jaya Grocer, I can make my low carb fried rice more often. Gone were the days when I would be deeply disappointed to find cauliflower with brown spots when I shop at my regular supermarket.
For anyone interested in Cauliflower Fried Rice but still want some rice, just use your favorite fried rice recipe and just substitute half the amount of rice with grated cauliflower.
By the way, cutting down on carbs and the sweet stuff is very effective for fat loss. You don't have to sacrifice your carbs, just eat less and allow yourself a cheat day once a week. It worked for me. So if you find yourself in Damansara Uptown and see a fat auntie, that's not me. Not anymore. Wahahaha!!!
I am early today, what is my reward? Fried rice? I will be extremely sad if I didn't get to eat it...
ReplyDeleteYou can dream on for some Real Dream Rewards! I have posted first comments many times and would be thrilled even if she gave me left over crumbs or fish bones. Nah! I got nothing dei....
Deleteheh..heh..heh...
DeleteOh, I can deal with half and half, just not totally cauliflower fried rice...hehe! ;) I certainly won't mind eating your fried rice as it looks so well cooked and colourful + it has that key ingredient that starts with a B...kekeke! ;P And congrats for achieving your target...I wish I had such willpower like you.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you can because you won't even realize there is grated cauliflower in there if you weren't told. Yup, bacon makes everything taste better :) My willpower is not that great because I am starting to eat more carbs and I kept reminding myself not to get back to square one again!
Deletegreat idea to mix cauliflower with rice! looks so tasty! I don't mind eating this every week as long as someone cooks it for me. yay!
ReplyDeleteGet your hubby to cook this for you hee..hee...
DeleteI've been wanting to try and cook this. I've been bought one cauliflower...but it ended up cooked as a vegetable dish instead. So lazy, me. Another time perhaps.
ReplyDeleteI know, grating the cauliflower can be a pain :(
DeleteThis is good news to hear that Fat Aunty Hong Chee has hit her target now. You must be very shapely like Coca Cola bottle now and can participate in Mrs Malaysia 2018 now. Wait, I pass you the forms. You should beat Marie France Bodyline and open your own Ah Hong France Bodyline to teach the fatties to slim down by eating caulifower rice & 8 potato skins before walking around Starling in 8 circles to burn fats. So easy!
ReplyDeleteI ate this Cauliflower Fried Rice before but they tasted like yummy cereals to me. I would rather starve myself or exercise like a mice over treadmills if I need to slim down to wear my skimpy slim fit pants again. I want to ask my lahling to make this Cauliflower Fried rice again using your recipe since nothing could make you feed me even a small mouthful.
#FatAuntyNoMore #CocaColaHong #MrsMalaysia2018
Not that shapely lah, just not as fat as before heh..heh.. I can get back into my old pants and that is good enough for me and I can hang the track pants up in the cupboard LOL!
DeleteYour lahling will do a great job with this 50:50 cauliflower rice :)
Oh, PH! Is it true? You kurus oredi?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I came across this recipe quite a long time ago and that time, when I first read it, I wanted to try for my hubby. And of course, you know me oredi...I never tried it ^_^
Eh, PH lupa pulak nak komen!
DeleteYesterday I saw Jumbo Queen competition at Sg Wang. I bet you cannot joinlah since you oredi kuruskan. Eat a lot morelah kalau nak cuba nasib in the next competition ^_^
Errr...nak kata kurus tu tak lah juga, just not as fat as before lah. I dah boleh pakai balik my old pants, kira bagus lah tu. And also not qualified for Jumbo Queen wahahahaha!!!
DeleteCauliflower is my least favourite veggie. I heard of this cauliflower fried rice before but never try or taste it.
ReplyDeleteThis fried rice is a great substitute and good for vegan too.
You won't detect the cauliflower if you did not know there were some in there :)
DeleteOh yeah.. how come I never thought of using half rice and half cauli? Thanks for the idea, PH.. I miss rice too and at the same time I also do not want to indulge so much on them... and eating cauliflower alone is like very 'saddening' and "unsatisfying" .. hahaha...
ReplyDeleteYeah, but I have eaten pure cauliflower rice at a restaurant that has already sadly closed and it was very good. Got wok hei.
DeleteCongratulation on your weight loss! i must first quit with sugar😀
ReplyDeleteThank you! Start slow and you'll be able to beat the sugar cravings.
DeleteSame as Rose, I have not tried Cauliflower fried rice before, ummm, this makes me very curious how it tastes like
ReplyDeleteThere are some restaurants that have it.
DeleteI love fried rice and always ended up indulge too much when I cook it >_< Half rice + half cauliflower definitely a good idea!
