Recently I ordered some beef from Daging Online and I told myself if I was happy with their supply, I will order from them regularly.
Let me show you what I bought.
With that, I made beef bones and tendon soup (the fat I will share what I did next time) on the first day of Hari Raya. I just used the Adabi/Mak Siti sup tulang spice mix. I also sauteed some onions, garlic and ginger until aromatic and added that to the slow cooker.
It took many hours for the meat and tendon to become tender. When it was done, I portioned the soup into glass containers. Today, I took out some to reheat.
See how gelatinous it is, full of collagen which is good for our skin (inside and out) and bones. I reheated the soup using my electric steamer.
As fans of beef soup know, if you eat this at the restaurant, it will cost you a lot of money. I am particularly fond of tendon and when I eat that outside, I don't get much in my bowl.
When I cook this myself, I can eat tendon to my heart's delight! I did not bother to make fried shallots and garnished my soup with only finely chopped daun sup (Chinese celery).
Today, the second day of Hari Raya, I woke up early and did a spot of gardening and housekeeping. I actually planned what I was going to do to take advantage of the public holiday.
In fact this was planned since the end of last year. Yup, I plan my year ahead (crazy???) because I like structure and certainty. Of course these plans are not carved in stone and can be changed to accommodate unforeseen circumstances.
Just now I caught sight of Girl from my glass door. She was snoozing on the car porch and I was glad she hung around on the home front.
I guess Daging Online can expect more orders from me. I am very happy with their beef - very clean and well packed. Best of all the customer support is very responsive. The delivery is also efficient (using Lalamove) and I can specify the date and time for delivery. Nope, I am not being sponsored by Daging Online to say this. Hah!
Glad you found a reliable online supplier for beef. It is good that the meat is up to your expectation. I never order fresh meats online so have no confidence in doing so. Lol. Still prefer to go, select and buy from physical shops.
ReplyDeleteActually if I could, I would prefer to buy from the market/shop but not so convenient for me to go there.
DeleteI'm like you. I so love beef tendons so so so much!
ReplyDeleteNice! At the restaurant, they are really stingy with the tendon.
DeleteIs it because the beef bones and tendon don't give you enough fats for the soup or you just wanted to eat more fat, so you bought just the fats?! :O I don't eat tendon...or anything gelatinous for that matter. Gelatinous = Geli (for me...lol).
ReplyDeleteOh no, the fats are to supplement the beef trimmings which are sometimes too lean (especially the ones from Jaya Grocer). Oh I see, I happen to love gelatinous.
DeleteI like beef tendon too, for its delightful texture, but like what you said, there are only maximum 2 pieces a bowl of beef noodles if we eat in a restaurant.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's why better I cook it myself and eat until satisfied. LOL!
DeleteIf I ever want to cook tendon n beef, I would buy from them too because I like to eat beef tendons too. Thank you for the recommendation. 👍 Girl is so sweet, sleeping there. Where is Belle Belle?
ReplyDeleteBelle Belle had gone wondering around the neighborhood. LOL!
DeleteAh, notti Belle Belle! 😼
