A Day at The Cardio's

This morning I got up early and developed a headache. The last time I had a headache was when I abstained from coffee (as an experiment).

My partner dropped me off at my brother's house because I was tagging along for my mum's first visit to the cardiologist. I mentioned before in this post that my mum has blood pressure issues. Hypertension is a very common affliction.

As with any clinic at the hospitals, the doctor's office was very busy. I sometimes ponder, had I made it to medical school, which area of specialty would I undertake? I reckon I would have gone into research rather than curative medicine.

It was a long wait and my mum remarked that she liked my footwear.

Alamak, I did it again. Wore different colored selipar Jepun. Tsk!

Finally when my mum's turn came, my brother and I accompanied her during the consultation (extra pairs of ears are helpful). It was a very pleasant visit and the cardiologist altered my mum's medication.

Mum was very assured and comforted by the doctor's good bedside manner. So with that I hope mum's blood pressure issue will be resolved. The next follow up will be after Hari Raya.

After sending mum home, my brother dropped me off at the office where I cleared off some work while nursing my still pounding head. It did not help that the weather these days is so so hot!

Around 4:00pm I decided to go for an early dinner at The Red Kettle @ The Starling.

I love the coffee and it is very relaxing to sip coffee after a long day. For my meal I ordered the Classic Pork Chop.

I never ordered this before but I remembered this was what my partner had on our first visit

The three pieces of pork chops were accompanied by carrots, green peas and potato wedges.  I would say that the pork chops were well seasoned and nicely pan fried.

While enjoying my meal, there was a loud din coming from the concourse. Like club music or something like that. After I was done, I went downstairs to investigate.

That's when I found the culprit, this leng chai performing beatbox and sharing with his modest audience the intricacies of beatboxing.

He produced all manner of sounds from high pitched squeals to scratching to bass booms. I stood there for a while watching him demonstrate how to make the sound effects.

Being the charitable person that I am, I dropped a little something into his collection suitcase box. It is hard to cari makan as a performer.

Miraculously after I finished my pork chops, my headache was gone. Yay! I can now look forward to a relaxing evening with my partner. Tonight we will watch the Netflix documentary Keep Sweet, Pray and Obey. It's about Warren Jeff's rise (or rather crimes) in the Fundamental Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints. That should be interesting.

  1. A nice, yummy pork chop for dinner. Weather has been very warm lately especially this week over here. It does can cause people to get fatigue and panting easily. And the headache, I feel you!!

Went for blood test this week and got the result back!! Very low hemoglobin!! My doctor has been nagging and ask me to take iron folic. No wonder I got tired easily lately!! Initially my man went to see doctor, ended up, the doctor commented on my paleness, so forced me to take urine and blood test the next day. Alamak!!

    1. If you want to replenish iron in your iron intake, the best is to eat red meat like beef if you like it. My dad was also told by his doctor recently that he is anemic and advised to take Sangobion iron supplement.

  2. I like the looks of your pork chop....very nicely seared. I wonder what cut of pork is best for pork chops. I recently just got one of those hammer gadgets used to pound and tenderise meat....and looking to put it to use. ^_~ P/S: Nobody would realise you put on the wrong slippers as they look like a set of different coloured slippers meant to be worn like that...yin and yang...lol! :D

    1. Actually I am not too sure which are the best cuts for pork chops. I usually buy pork loin chops which are cut in round shapes and they are sliced quite thin. Ah, that meat mallet that you bought will come in handy to tenderize beef too!

  3. Fingers crossed that with the meds adjusted, your mom's blood pressure won't be high anymore. The specialist told my in-laws that 160/50 is considered normal for the elderlies even after they have taken their high blood pressure meds.

    1. If I am not mistaken, the cardiologist told my mum the same thing. I also hope her BP will lower. I dare not ask her these last few days. I don't want her to feel stressed.

  4. That pork chop looks so good. If no butter taste then my spouse could eat that while I order the big breakfast. Hhmmm, yummy!

  8. I saw someone wore slippers (not flip flop type) with different colours & motif on both sides during my recent Redang trip too, so it means slippers with different designs on both sides are quite common nowadays, LOL.
