Lockdown Day #23 : My Little Neighborhood Oink Oink Shop

My taman at Bandar Utama is not as happening as say, Damansara Utama or Damansara Jaya or TTDI, where these neighborhoods have shops/nice restaurants within walking distance and residents can conveniently get groceries and food.

That is why my parents prefer to stay at my brother's house because it is convenient to buy food and the daily newspaper.  My place? Only got 1 Utama hah..hah...hah..

But wait.... Bandar Utama also got shop lah... A very small one at Oasis. Very limited but hey, got oink oink shop! My partner discovered this D'Butchery quite recently when driving past and we have visited a few times since.

Not bad, eh? Now we don't have to go all the way to Taman Megah to pick up our oinks.

This little shop also supplies other grocery staples besides oinks.

Like fruits and veggies.

Canned food.

All sorts of luncheon meat.
Frozen seafood.

Sausages, ham and a variety of frozen food.

Frozen oinks.

Soup mix packs so that you can pick up your oinks and also the BKT herbs. How convenient.

There is a whole bunch of these and one day I should buy one to try.

What else do they have ?

Olive oil, cooking oil and more canned food.

Rice, noodles and sauces.

More sauces and salad dressings

I am not sure what these are. Probably frozen cooked food.

Eggs, pasta and pasta sauces also got.

Although choices may be limited, this is still very good to me. I hope this little shop gets the support of the residents so that it can survive.

  1. Oooooo...I would want to shop there! Too bad the ones we have here all pale in comparison.

The one near my house is called, "Fresh meat" (What a name! LOL!!!) but it is often in the list of "places to avoid" (those visited by people tested positive) so I avoid it like a plague!!!

    1. This shop is pretty good. Just that the space is small and with social distancing, can't have too many people inside at any one time.

  2. Wah! It doesn't look like a small shop. This is a wonderful 1 stop shop with so many varieties. We have 2 oink oink shops that have something like D' Butchery. Every time I enter one of these shop, I will come away with more than I need to buy.

    1. Yes, since you can see so many products, it does not appear small until you are there. LOL! Since my partner accompanies me, I don't simply buy things hah..hah..

  3. What a delightful shop! Did they just open? Is that why the "opening soon" banner is still hanging outside their shop? I think you are right. From the looks of them, those are frozen ready to eat meals.

    1. They opened a few months already but forgot to remove the banner. Ah, I must check out those ready to eat frozen food next time.

  4. Your little neighbourhood oink oink shop is only half a shop...but how lah half a shop can store that many produce to sell (I think this D'Butchery have a few other branches). I like how clean it looks (I wish I have such a shop in my neighbourhood but such premium shops unfortunately will not survive in our not-so-affluent neighbourhood). At the end of the day, for many people, price matters. I'm fine with limited choices as long as they're good choices. You're very lucky to have such a fine shop in your neighbourhood...now you don't need to travel far for your oink oinks.

P/S: Oh PH, I found the new packaging YiGe on Shopee & Jaya Grocer online (I've not bought any yet coz I'm quite happy now with Golden Bridge Original Flavour...I've actually eaten this GB brand before but don't remember finding it memorable, maybe I bought a different flavour or my tongue was broken then!). I asked my dry goods supplier why this Yige brand, which was previously a product of China is now a product of Singapore (this is because I spotted the lion head logo on the can from photos) and he also doesn't know. He says he doesn't bring them in now coz it's expensive. I said the price seems quite similar to the old price but he says that's because the new packaging is smaller (lower weight) than the old one! >_<

    1. I like this shop a lot since I can practically get anything I need, though I may not get my regular brands.

Thanks for the information of YiGe. Somehow I never looked for it online. BTW the taste of the made in Singapore YiGe is a bit different from the China product. I think the China one tastes better. Next I must try Golden Bridge hee..hee..

  5. You area has got such a huge and well planned mega mall of international standard. No need to have shops already otherwise competition gets headache.

I see that the items inside that oink-oink shop are very useful and appealing. It is a new trend now to open these boutique styled mini markets that are common sights in overseas like HKG, Taipei and Korea. You might be surprised that there are 3 similar trendy shops around the KGB Burger location. I will sneak over to your place to see this shop as the many hanging sachets are calling me. Agnes Chang had really brainwashed me to buy sachet seasonings and modify them to save time.

    1. I suppose so, but still it is more convenient to have a kedai runcit nearby.

I like this shop a lot and you are welcome to check it out once we can cross districts. Oh! Agnes Chang also encourage usage of sachet seasonings. I wanted very much to try those herbal soup mix.
