Beard Brothers at Home

This was another lunch that I had at my brother's when my parents were here last year.

My brother and I love BBQ and when we read about Beard Brothers, we were keen to try. But you know how it is, our weekend schedule can be quite busy and somehow we never made it there.

Then one day my brother gave us a surprise.

What's that?

Oohhh.... he went to tapau at Beard Brothers

Beef rib and chicken leg. The beef was tender and fall off the bone.

This is the brisket.

Some coleslaw, mashed potatoes and something that tasted like vinegar.

I'm afraid the pulled lamb was not popular as it had a very strong gamey smell. We did not finish it.

The buns and cornbread, unfortunately were dry and hard.

We might have had a better experience if we ate at the restaurant. But judging from what we had that day, we might not visit so soon or at all.

  1. The rib looked good. Such potty the bread and buns were dry and hard. I wouldn't enjoy that.

    1. Among all the items, the ribs were the better one.

  2. I also heard about Beard Brothers and it was on my radar too. But after reading what you wrote, I'm not so sure I should visit. First of all, I'm surprised at how cheap-looking the tapau looked (looks like something you'd get out of a stall not a proper restaurant)! :O The beef brisket looked thickly cut though but was it tender? I do like the looks of the mashed potatoes with lots of gravy...yuum! ^.^

    1. This experience that I had may not be representative of what Beard Brothers is capable of serving. My brother went early (to avoid parking issues and possible crowd) and the food may not have been ready or properly prepared. The brisket was swimming in congealed fats (ugh!) and not heated through. Yes, it was tender and so were the ribs. I can't remember how the mashed potatoes tasted because there was so little of it. So if you are brave enough to take a risk and visit....heh...heh...

  3. I think strong gamey lamb. Takeaway food usually does not taste as good as dine in. Beard brother - let me go google them.

    1. They do except that the taste was below par. Could be different if eating at the premises.

  5. I agree with you, eating at the restaurant might be much better than tarpau-ing home.. I don't enjoy anything lamb-bie, the smell is just too strong for me..

    1. Perhaps better to eat at the restaurant but the food gave such a poor impression that we are hesitant to visit.

  9. the foods doesn't look appealing coz it is in 'tapao' containers...If it is presented well, it might help in making it more 'delicious'...LOL!
