Lunch With My Parents

On the day my parents arrived, my dad expressed his wish to eat fish and chips. That was an encouraging sign because my dad lost his appetite when he was unwell and as a result, he was very thin.

The fact that he thought of fish and chips was a sign that he was on the road to recovery. My dad is lots better now and the weekend following their visit, my brother and I took our parents to Fish & Co@1 Utama.

For starters we ordered the Fried Calamari to share. It wasn't that crispy but flavor wise, it was good. The squid was a little chewy but I was not complaining.

Mum and dad had The Best Fish & Chips in Town

Mum also ordered a Coleslaw as she must have some vegetables to go with her meal. We shared a bit of the coleslaw with her.

My brother had the Swiss Fish & Chips. This one has cheese in it. My dad, terrified of cheese, made the server confirm that his order of The Best Fish & Chips in Town did not contain any cheese hah..hah...

This is my order of Artic Fish & Chips. I thought it was very good and I enjoyed my meal.

Everyone including my dad polished everything off their plates hee..hee.. This lunch was mum's treat. Thank you, Mummy!

  1. Good to hear that your dad is in good health & recovering.

It must be an incredible lunch because you're surrounded with your loved ones.

In your plate there were 2-pcs of fish. Why hah? Others had only I piece haha...

    1. My dad is OK now, thanks. The fish & chips here is very good. I've tried another one, a so called British fish & chips and it was terrible.

  3. good to hear that your father's appetite is back. A good fish review! I wonder what fish did they use. are all the fish the same type of fish?

    1. There is no mention of what type of fish is used except for mine (Artic fish & chips) which is pollock. I tried Cor Blimey at Damansara Uptown and was disappointed. I have not blogged about it yet because I want to try a second time before drawing a conclusion.

    2. when I read your reply to STP I suspect you were referring to Cor Blimey because I saw the the new branch at Uptown. was the owner there when you ate there? The Subang HQ food was nice because the owner was there to oversee things. Perhaps it was a QC issue. did you leave a feedback to them? I am very interested to know what you ordered and what was wrong with your order. I have tried their Cod and Pollock which were very tasty but their Dory fish was terrible.

  4. Few different type of fish n chips. I think I will opt for the Swiss as I like cheese.

Glad your dad is getting better. Time to get him put on some weight. ^^

  5. Ah, your dad must surely be on the road to recovery since he can take fried food! So, was this the best fish & chips for your parents....hihihi (since it wasn't for your partner >_<)! Perhaps you might want to try the crispy whitebait next time as that is at least not so chewy like the calamari. I also like the Artic fish & chips since it comes with pollock. Ahem, my dear, your plate is the only one I see with two fish fillets...wakakakaka! :D

    1. Yes, my dad made a remarkable recovery and I am relieved. My parents enjoy the fish & chips here (this is their second visit) and there were no complaints hee..hee... OK, I shall try the crispy whitebait next, it sounds good. Yeah, most of you here are so observant to note that I had two fillets while everyone else had only one hah...hah...

  6. I love to eat fish & chips sometimes when my fishy mood comes. That Fish & Co is always my choice even though I often cursed them for having very super slow & messy service over the years! Their service is bad and slower than dead fishes floating across the river to deliver my orders. LOLOL

You and brother are really good to bring your parents for makan and bonding time. How come you don't bring your partner along always? You hide your BF under lock & key, all for yourself.

  8. Sumua also distracted by the fact that your platter has 2 pieces of fish hahaha!!!

I'd love a good plate of fish and chips now. But Manhattan here sucks, Fish & Co went out of business like years ago, and hotels are... expensive :(

    1. hah..hah... I think it is because my fish is a smaller piece so they gave two. I've tried Manhattan but I think Fish & Co is better.

  12. glad to hear your dad is regaining his appetite! reminds me of my grandmother, who has been unwell this year. so for my aunts who take care of her, they're always reporting back on her appetite - on good days, she'll happily eat everything from fried chicken to ice cream ... on not-so-good days, she'll sleep the entire day and won't look at food. i think she'd like the fish and chips on a good day :)

    1. I guess appetite is an indicator of our well being. Yes, I am sure your grandmother would enjoy the fish & chips. My late grandmother loved fish & chips!

  13. I miss my parents---cherish the special times you have with yours. My dad wanted to go out for sushi the day after Thanksgiving. I'm glad I took him out but there was no really fresh fish the day after the holiday--I don't think I ate much, LOL. Glad your dad is doing better.

The Swiss Fish & Chips with cheese, is it sandwiched in between the fillets or the accompanied sauce contains cheese? Just curious as I like cheese :P
