My Favorite Set Lunch@Chihiro Kushiyaki Izakaya (CLOSED)

After visiting with my partner for dinner, I dropped by Chihiro@Damansara Uptown on my own. It so happened that I was passing by and one of the staff was stationed outside to promote the set lunch.

Since this restaurant is situated on the first floor, there is lack of visibility and potential customers may not be keen to walk up and explore. So having their staff at the entrance downstairs works, well at least it got me upstairs for lunch.

I would say that the set lunch menu is very attractive and the prices are quite reasonable.

On my first lunch visit, I was seated here.

Gah! I had to maneuver myself not so elegantly into position. Fortunately there was no one around to witness that.

After perusing the menu, I was quite interested in one of the Ramen Don Set and I chose the Miso Ramen and Sutamina Don Set (RM25.80). The lunch sets come with green tea and ice cream.

I have a thing for meals served in trays like this. It looks so nice and appetizing.

I enjoyed the Sutamina Don. The meat was well marinated and it was delicious.

As for the Miso Ramen, let's just say that this is not the place to eat ramen.  Though it was decently presented, tastewise, it is just like regular noodle soup.

At least they got the egg right.

The gyoza was just passable.

You get two wedges of orange and frankly, I prefer watermelon. Why? Because watermelon is easier to eat.

This single scoop of vanilla ice cream is ordinary but a nice finish to my meal.

I returned another day. Thankfully I was seated at a regular table.

This time I went for the Wakadori Teriyaki and Sashimi Set (RM33.80), a little more expensive on account of the sashimi. Feeling extravagant, I added RM3.00 to change the white rice for Garlic Yaki Meshi (garlic fried rice).

The garlic fried rice was nice enough with lots of fried garlic in it but it was on the dry side.

The sashimi was all right.

I enjoyed the teriyaki chicken as it was moist and the portion size was quite decent.

I would say that I like the set lunches here and I won't rule out further revisits. Another thing that I like is that Chihiro accepts credit card for any amount you spend. I hate those eateries that set a RM50 minimum for credit card usage. In fact I don't support such eateries.

  1. Your teriyaki chicken looked good. I love it. Me too, I prefer no minimum charges for credit card.

  2. At the rate you're going, you'll probably reach 6 sets to get the free item...hihihi! ;) I've not seen such sad-looking odd-shaped gyozas before. I don't like those tatami-style seating either (I would have requested to be seated elsewhere)...maybe coz I'm freaked out about sticking my feet into something that I can't judge the cleanliness of...haha! :D It's 'illegal' for eateries to set a minimum RM50 spending for usage of credit cards (I hate them too) but they get away with it since nobody is brandishing any punishment. >_<

    1. Now that you mentioned it, I would probably have phobia the next time I am seated at the tatami-style seating, not just cleanliness but something else hee..hee...

  3. All the set meals you ate looked very sedap and cukup yummy except for their prices. I actually love to eat their garlic nasi goreng that is dry! They are quite pricey for set meals like this. Most importantly you were happily pampered and well fed. I don't like to sit on their floor to eat as I could not lean on my tired back to relax. I could not even move the table or shift the seat and it's like torturing a 6 footer like me to sit on the confined baby chair. Muahahaha

    1. Yup, don't like that seating. And the place is dim and oh..oh... there might be something hiding underneath the table!

    1. I understand that they are not supposed to set such limits but there is no enforcement to stop that.

  11. I always try to avoid order ramen at a non-ramen specialist restaurant because it always turn out to be not so good one.
