A Day Out with the Parents

My parents were in town. And that means MAKAN! heh..heh..heh...

My mum had been dreaming of Annie-1's Curry Laksa ever since she saw it on my blog. I think she reminded me a few times that on her next trip to KL, she wants to eat the curry laksa. So of course, fulfilling mum's wish was the agenda for the day.

My brother and I took our parents to Annie-1 for lunch. Luckily for us, the place was not as packed as we had expected.

My mum and my brother had the Curry Laksa Supreme

Look at that. So yummy. My dad wanted the curry laksa too but his nurse stopped him. Better wait until after your medical check-up, she said. So dad had the Wantan Mee with Char Siew and Wantan.

I had the same thing to keep my dad company. No regrets because the wantan mee was as fabulous as always.

Mummy and Papa enjoying their lunch.
My mum enjoyed the curry laksa very much and my dad was happy with his wantan mee. Mum's bowl says it all.

But she left behind some gravy because my grandma used to say that you cannot empty the bowl/plate completely. That indoctrination still sticks.

But my brother, sapu everything. Not a drop left. Obviously that leave-behind-some-food ideology was not passed on heh...heh...heh...

After our meal, we went for a brief walkabout at The Starling. To be continued....

  5. From the first photo, I knew you were at Annie 1...coz 1) the bowl for curry laksa is always black (not sure why your mom's one is different though), 2) I saw 'recognisable' char siew and 3) there was a pork ball!

Oh-em-gee, I see the "sapu" everything runs in the family...kekeke! ;D No matter how good the broth is (be it curry, soup, prawn mee, etc.) I had/can never finish all the broth like you guys. I see your mom likes kopi-o-ping too :)

    1. Oh! That was your brother's bowl. That was supposed to be a sign of good manners, leave something behind, don't eat it all...so they will tell you that if you take that last piece, you will end up being a spinster your whole life but one must eat one's own plate/bowl clean though - they say you leave anything behind, your face will look exactly like that, you will end up with bad complexion.

    2. Oh! hah..hah.. There must have been some confusion on my grandma's part. I also heard from my partner that you must not even leave a grain of rice behind lest your face will be blemished :D

  10. Curry laksa supreme looks good to me. I love drinking curry noodle soup until kering kontang too, but the soup contains more calories than the noodle actually, because it is loaded with lots of sugar. Screaming HELP!
