There is this shop at The Starling that I have been stalking since day one. Every now and then, I walk in to look-see-look-see and put some of the items on my wishlist in my head. Then I walk over to Daiso (just opposite) to see if I can spot something just as nice for RM5.90.
I am talking about this shop, etc (which stands for Exquisite, Trendy, Chic).
Most of the items here are not something I would buy on a whim because they are on the pricey side.
I love some of the crockery and pots and pans. Then one day lo and behold.
So apa lagi? This auntie quickly march in and start to hunt around those things she coveted with her naughty eyes.
But even with discounts, some items still remain heavy on the pocket (or credit card). So this kedekut auntie walk in walk out and hem and haw.
Never mind that I am stingy or that my cupboards are splitting at the seams, I want something I like.
I started off with 3 colored bowls from this selection. I felt so happy.
But that was not the end of it.
Ah! Ceramic bakeware, I like! I had my eye on this one.
Took me 3 or 4 visits (telling myself, if it is still there, it is meant for me hah..hah..) before I took it home. So happy :)
I saw a few ladies walking out with a package or two.
I know some of you may have a spot of trouble getting your Ketua Pengarah (Director General or in the case of Hainom, King Kong of the House) to approve such acquisitions. Generally speaking, men, they don't understand why we like these things.
But if you are like me and you earn your own keeps, you don't need permission. If it is within your budget, you buy. Or make an excuse. This is my Christmas present to myself (or birthday or whatever).
There is another thing that I want, which I have been eyeing at other places as well.
This. The red one, top shelf on the right. Or shall I get the blue one?
This thing is heavy (and pricey) as hell but very good for cooking stews, sauces or curry. I'll think about it.
Well, one more month to go before we get to the end of the year. Fast, right? Too fast in fact.
I thought of making this my last post for the year to take a break but then some of you might miss me (perasan mode on). So for next month I will still be posting but not as regularly.
See ya!
your 3 coloured bowls are from photo 6 is it? because directly above your sentence is a photo of pillows. if you will use the item frequently I say just buy it if there is a discount and you are earning your own keeps.
ReplyDeleteYou can see the bowls clearer in photo 1. I have to agree that to make it worth money spent, I must use the crockery that I bought and not let them sleep in the cupboard.
Deleteyou are not perasan lah. of course we will miss you a lot if you just stop writing for this year. still 1 whole month to go so please continue to share your food adventures with us!
ReplyDeleteThat's nice of you to say, Mun :) I will still be posting but not everyday.
DeleteSemua cantik... but it will be too pricey for me, look see-look see je ok lah.
ReplyDeleteme too la PH... like to see that pricey items and then head to Daiso to get the copycat, if any...hihi
hah..hah... Kak Rose, I walk in and angan2 nak beli. Since there is a sale, why not, kan.
DeleteEvery ladies' paradise. I would like to buy some to add to my kitchen cabinet. Lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah, our ideal heaven LOL!
DeleteI do enjoy reading your post, sad that you be taking a break, gonna miss u, I will sob and sob...
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I will still be around :)
DeleteMy favorite department to enjoy window shopping...
ReplyDeletetak beli pun, sentuh2 dengan jari sudah cukup...
Kan? Just see, touch and then cepat2 jalan keluar hahaha...
DeleteOh my!!! I spot a lot of stuff I like. Thank goodness we do not have this shop here or I will end up going home with a lorry load full!!!
ReplyDeleteYou must be a rare species! I know most men don't care much for these things :)
DeleteHaha I have walked into that shop before, admired only and then left ;P
ReplyDeleteI did that many many times until the sale happened LOL!
DeleteThanks for sharing, sweetie! I can spend hours there! xoxo
ReplyDeletehah..hah.. Glad to know that you share the same interest :)
DeleteFirst up, I love this sort of thing!! ;) I'll go wild here!! I have a terrible weakness for bowls and plates...I see a lot I like here but, like you say, must 'control'...already have too many in my kitchen cupboards. :( The ceramic bakeware, I think you got the red one, yes? Black one looks really good too. The red and blue one you're deciding on (definitely the red one), those are called Dutch Ovens, right? I've been eyeing those too but I think they can only be used on stove tops (before transferring to the oven), so I can't use it.
ReplyDeleteP/S: I think it's not a case of us missing you, it's a case of you missing us...wuahahahaha! :D You'll miss the interaction/chatting with us online if you don't post...kekeke! ;)
Ah! You are a fan too! If only I had more money when I moved into my house, I would have bought these type of crockery and bakeware. Well, it is never too late. I bought the green one (though it looks grey in photo #10) and if I were to give in to my madness I would have bought the whole set of the red ones! Yeah, those are dutch ovens. I think I'll go with the red one as you suggested :)
Deletehah..hah...yes, I will miss everyone but I will still come round to comment even if I am not posting.
What a scary and shocking post to hear that you wanna take a break from blogging!! Noooooo!!!! This news will send shock waves to make the stock market crash lah! My Alibaba & CheungKong shares will scream! Hoiii Ah Hong Chee, lately you have sounded like a pregnant mummy with melancholia symptoms. I think you need to release stress by not taking a break but to break all the plates and bowls inside that porcelain shop at Starling!! Let's go with a hammer this long weekend and KABOOM!!! You break this and I break that, wokay! All happily ever after....
ReplyDelete#GilaBabiTM #HongMelancholia? #MakanAisKrimLah
Aiyo, you got Alibaba shares, ah? hee..hee.. No lah, this Ah Hong Chee will still post but not so frequent. If I got more money, instead of breaking the plates and bowls, I will buy more. Retail therapy, eh boh? Mai siau2 break people's things lah, nanti end up in balai polis Damansara Utama :D
DeleteHonestly, I'm not a big shopper. I used to love browsing pretty crockery in those types of stores, but these days I want less stuff rather than more.
ReplyDeleteYou are the voice of reason! More stuff means more storage space and perhaps collecting more dust!
DeleteI used to buy a lot of pretty crockery but now this auntie has stopped collecting them. Sometimes, I love to look see, look see but is able to walk away without feeling sad.
ReplyDeleteThat is good because if keep buying, will end up with unused crockery that jam up space!
DeleteWow so beautiful, the crockery, pots and pans, I like the products in photo #3 and photo #6, I find the blue one nicer if you let me choose, wonder if there is "etc" in SG?
ReplyDeleteI'm going back there to buy some more. Help! LOL!
DeleteLovely colors of the pots! I am trying to avoid such shops, too small apartment and too big passion to have everything from them:)
ReplyDeleteI know! My cabinets are already full (some stuff have to sit outside) but I still want more. LOL!
DeleteOh, I never walk into this shop before but seem like this is a rather dangerous place for me, better stay out >_<
ReplyDeleteVery dangerous, I have been bitten! LOL!
DeleteI love to see... but didn't dare to buy... once bought, regret for I know I will keep them in the cabinet only... Oh, come to think of it, I bought some stainless steel plates and bowls recently... those stainless ones I also cannot resist, what more these beauties!!
ReplyDeleteIf never use, then wasted lah, hor? Stainless steel plates and bowls are very practical. I also like. See sure buy. LOL!
DeleteAnything tea related I'm interested in! Those teapots and accessories look great!!!! What wonderful things you have found!
ReplyDeleteEverything there is gorgeous and if I had a bottomless pocket, I would pick up many items hee..hee...
