Guilty as charged. I switched back to feeding my girls canned food at the end of February 2025.
Processed foods are so convenient. Just open the can and the cats are fed. Kibble is even more convenient. Just scoop and pour into the feeding bowl as that's it.
I fed my girls with this particular brand of wet food.
Snappy Tom. It's affordable and the quality is not too bad. I chose this variant - wholefish.
One can of 400g is adequate to feed all four cats in one meal.
This is how it looks like.
There are whole sardines in the can along those gel stuff that act as fillers.
I also tried ProDiet. It is slightly more expensive then Snappy Tom. I used to feed the girls with ProDiet that came in pouches.
This one is also not too bad.
There are also real fish in the can and the gel substance.
I stuck to Snappy Tom Wholefish because the other variations are minced and very stodgy.
This is another one I tried but my girls disliked it due to the gel-like texture.
But the convenience has drawbacks (besides having to wash the can) in the form of very stinky litter boxes. Somehow with processed foods, my girls produce bulky smelly poop. Sometimes twice a day. Sorry for the explicit description.
I have now switched them back to real meat. Chicken and liver.
Because real food is nutrient dense, they don't need to eat as much or frequently. With canned food, they get hungry very easily.
Makan time.
Kittie Kat loves her food too.
While they were feeding, Blue Eyes waited patiently.
When they were done, it was Blue Eyes' turn.
Kittie Kat and Poodie chilling out after filling their tummies.
The best part of feeding them with real meat is less frequent bowel movements and smaller stools that are less malodorous.
Now when I open the front door, it doesn't smell anymore. So I will keep up with cooking for my girls. It's worth it!
Your fur kids are very lucky to have you as their ma. Have a good weekend. Today I am taking part in the group activity of life liberation again. Enjoy your time at home. By the way I will mailing you a gift next week. Do look out for it.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you for your coming gift. Aiyo! Very paiseh lah. I had a good weekend and hope you did too!

ReplyDeleteSnappy tom can food does look good 👍
Wah, they are so nice to leave some food for blue eyes
This blue eyes is so well mannered to wait patiently
Have a good week ahead tomorrow 🙏💕
Blue Eyes is a very well mannered cat. She waits until the girls are done and then only she will eat the leftovers. You have a good week ahead too!
DeleteWell, real food is always better than canned but it involves a lot more work (cooking and grocery shopping), I'm sure. How many chicken breasts + liver do you need to cook a day to feed your 4 furry friends or do you cook them in a batch and keep them in the fridge?
ReplyDeleteI cook in a batch and buy the chicken breasts and livers every few days. Yes, a bit of work but it is worth it as it makes litterbox duty less unpleasant LOL!
Deletegood morning, the cat can food looks expensive. the 2 foster cats i am having i gave them kibbles - salmon + chicken taste. once a week i will give them can food as a treat for them also
ReplyDeleteGood morning! The Snappy Tom canned food (400g) cost RM3.84 at Daco Pet (if join as a member). Kibble is the most economical and most convenient way to feed a cat. So I can understand the popularity.
DeleteI think feed the cats with chicken meat & liver are cheaper than canned food?
ReplyDeleteYes, slightly cheaper. But my partner said I have not accounted for the electricity bill, water and effort into the cost. LOL!
