Tomorrow (Thursday) is my skip day and I will not eat my next meal until Friday. So today I must eat well! Feast before a fast.
The nice see thau phor @ Twins Signature Roast Duck wasn't paying attention and instead of kopi C she served me kopi O. I didn't complain, after all it is no big deal as the kopi O was superb.
Look at that, not a fatty layer in sight. So dry and this auntie almost tercekik trying to swallow the meat. At the end of my meal when I went to the counter to pay, I took the opportunity to ask Donald something. If in future I could request for fattier meat because today's was so dry.
Well, he glanced at the meat counter and said "today's pig all very skinny". Seriously. I couldn't help chuckling at that. So next time before I order, I must check with Donald first to ensure maximum enjoyment of the siew yoke and char siew. If the pigs are skinny, I might as well eat duck.
After that I went to Daiso.
I wear selipar Jepun which is why I can afford to eat pricey lunches (not everyday of course). I bought two pairs because my current ones, though still decent, has become a hazard as the soles are worn out.
At the concourse of The Starling, the mooncake mayhem has begun! As the resident Uptown kepochi I had to do my rounds and reporting.
Chicken Lasagna is RM28.00 for half tray while a full tray will set you back RM58.00. If you ask me, I prefer Beef Lasagna. The price for half and full tray is the same as the chicken. But no, I have to pass for now.
Hey, Victoria Station, please open one cawangan at The Starling heh..heh... Your steaks are better than The Ship's and you will be doing the Damansara Uptown (and beyond) steak lovers a favor. I will come visit, I promise.
Oh my look at those buns! Bakwa with Chicken Floss Bun (top, RM4.00) and Chicken Ham & Cheese Bun (bottom, RM4.90).
Public Service Announcement.
Duria Musang King mooncakes. I have never had any, so I wouldn't know if these are any good. I am sure they are and they come with a "nice" price tag.
Eat Cake Today also makes mooncakes. They have a cake shop at the basement. My birthday is coming soon. Cake or tomahawk?
I wonder if kids these days carry lanterns in their neighborhood on the day of the festival. I did when I was a kid and it was so much fun parading around the taman with my cousins and the neighbors' children. Ah, those were the days!
Get rid of your Japanese slippers if they are worn out. I was wearing those when I went to Sunway Lagoon a long time ago. It was raining and the floor was very wet...and I went sliding along like I was ice skating and I slipped over the edge at the stairs and my elbow hit the step and my upper arm broke into two. I had to go for surgery after that!!! I did write to Sunway Lagoon...and they just sent me 10 entrance tickets into the theme park. Case closed! I still have the metal plate and screws in my arm to this very day!
ReplyDeleteYes, just like my claypot pork belly rice that day - all lean! Not to my liking!
Oh dear! You could have claimed compensation from them because establishments like this have public liability insurance. So unfortunate what happened to you.
DeleteThree layers roasted pork is the best for me, juicy in betweens... if just meat, it is a rough and tough job for our teeth... LOL...
ReplyDeleteAnd very dry. I was having trouble swallowing that day. LOL!
DeleteHahahahaha, skinny 🐷🐖 are for me. I always request for lean meat please. This year I am resisting moon cakes. Decided not to buy any. Hope I managed 🤞 to stick to it.
ReplyDeleteLOL! The lean meat I had would have suited you just fine. I won't be buying mooncakes either just like last year.
DeleteAmong all the festive food, mooncake is my least favourite, I only buy for my mom the Kam Tui mooncake from one certain brand.
ReplyDeleteMe too don't really fancy mooncakes although I learnt to like kam tui mooncake.
DeleteCake or tomahawk for your birthday? That's a no-brainer question...lol! Like choiyen, mooncake is also my least favourite when it comes to festive food (more so when it's so costly...it was RM36 for one when my sil ordered one at a makan gathering!) >_< P/S: Thanks for your PSA - but no can do on processed food...wuahahahaha (it's the easiest thing to put on the table when lazy to cook but will try my darndest not to eat it too often). :D
ReplyDeleteOk, tomahawk it is then. LOL! To me, mooncake is over rated. I don't even like all those new flavors. Plain lotus paste or red bean paste is still my choice (when I was eating them then) though I started liking the kam tui ones which I am not eating anymore. I save money on mooncakes and spend on steaks hah...hah....
DeleteI will not buy roasted pork belly from Hanks again after eating Donald & Ah Chun's pork belly. I plan to befriend Ah Chun and dig secrets from him on their marinating methods. I know I am scary and daring. Kekekeke.
ReplyDeleteI think after mooncake sales would be CNY Goodies right away!! Manufacturers are nuts! 😂 😂
LOL! You are more scary than the KGB! hah..hah... CNY goodies! Wait, Christmas first!
