I Am Feeling Hungry

Today is a skip day meaning I don't eat at all and fast the whole day. My previous skip day was last Thursday.

I admit I am feeling a tad hungry. Just a little. The hunger ebbs and flows and it comes and goes. No big deal. My hands are not shaking or anything like that. I am also not ravenously hungry. So I can ride through this until tomorrow.

You know what happened after I ate at Mr Tuk Tuk on Saturday evening?

My feet started cramping when I got home. I reckon it must be something in the food. From experience, if I ate something sugary before bedtime, I will get leg cramps.

My foot just seized and my big toe started moving forward as if it was being bent by an invisible force. Very painful I tell you. Sorry, ah. Show my foot like that. Hope you are not eating lunch or dinner while reading this.

So to remedy the situation, I drank an electrolyte drink. It worked. I can't explain the mechanism. Maybe there were chemicals in the food (in the sauces) and in addition to sugar, caused some sort of electrolyte imbalance, hence the muscle cramping. My theory lah.

This was my dinner last Friday evening. I squirted some mustard and ketchup to make my meal more appetizing.

This was yesterday evening's dinner - chicken wings, lamb loin, some kind crustless pizza (will share the recipe one of these days) and one hardboiled egg. Lunch was the same (without egg but with one sausage). I could not finish my dinner because I was so stuffed. So I was confident that today, I won't be that hungry because I feasted.

If there is something that I cannot stand (in a good way) is cute cat photos and videos. They are always so cute and so adorable.

Like this one.

On Instagram especially, there are always these cute kitty videos and I wonder how the content creator managed to capture those cute moments.

Meantime my not-so-cute kittie was playing in the garden this morning.

Kittie Kat has made friends with this Siamese cat that often wanders into my compound looking for (leftover) food. That is Blue Eyes and Girl used to chase her away in the past.

She is very patient with Kittie Kat and allows the little one to climb all over her. Then they have these wrestling sessions which is a lot of fun for Kittie Kat who has boundless energy.

Girl pretty much ignores them and does not chase Blue Eyes away anymore.

Ah, these are photos that I took a while back outside a pet shop of this very cute kittie.

My heart melted into a hopeless heap.

Hi potential ma!

It stuck its paw outside the cage and I have a thing for cat's paws. They are so cute.

Please take me home!

Arrghhh.... I really cannot tahan the cuteness overload.

Adoi....as I walked away my heart broke.

It had a companion.

Haiz.... Cat got my heart........

  1. I thought coconut water will help balance the electrolytes? You're sure it isn't gout from all that meat you've been eating?

    1. Yes, coconut water is rich in electrolytes but I am guessing the other ingredients/chemicals in the food created an imbalance. I am very sure it is not gout because the cramps went away after I took an electrolyte drink.

  2. I know that leg cramps are very painful as I experienced them before. Ah, so good that Kittie Kat has a friend to play with. Kittie Kat looks bigger now. Ah, I feel so sad to see the lovely kittens that are specially bred to be pets.

    1. The worst is when cramps happen in the middle of the night. Kittie Kat has grown a lot. Me too, those two sweet kitties are still in the shop.

  3. I think you're allergic to an/some ingredient(s) in the food you took that day.

    1. You could be right. Usually seasonings contain chemicals especially those artificial flavorings.

  4. What a scary moment to get leg cramps like that. I often had calf cramps and my gym trainer & oncologist pointed out that I lacked of sodium. I believe the doctor because all my many blood test reports showed that I lacked of everything until dangerous levels for white & red blood cells.

I believe the sauces gave you the bad reactions. During my last trip to Singapore early this year, my friend hosted a dinner at a well known Michelin restaurant. That night, I suffered terrible chest pain which made my heart beat so loud that everyone in the room could hear the thumping. I had to leave Singapore at midnight and rushed to JB's hospital because my insurance covered it. The bills would have killed me if I got admitted in a Singapore hospital. That taught me a lesson that we must buy separate insurance when we visit Thailand or Singapore which is very cheap.

    1. Your experience is even scarier! I wonder if it was a case of atrial fibrilation and I also experience heart palpitations with certain foods, but not until so serious.

  5. No lah, I don't think you get leg cramps from eating something sugary before bedtime. I think it's more of a blood flow problem and if one is dehydrated. That's why drinking electrolytes will help. P/S: Those kitties in the window are I'm sure not the same ones as before, right? If no takers until now, those poor cuties have been in the cage for far too long...so sad.

    1. Actually it is, tested many times. Anything sweet before bedtime the cramps will come. Legs cramps are not caused by blood flow problems. It is due to an imbalance of minerals/electrolytes or deficiency in magnesium.

Unfortunately those kitties are the same ones :( They are special breeds and very pricey to buy and maintain.
