Dates Galore

I was at Aeon last Sunday when I spotted something familiar (saw it last year too).

When you see this, you know that Ramadan is coming!

Loads of dates are starting to come out, boxes and boxes of them.

These are my favorites - Medjool dates. Well, it is not something prescribed in my current way of eating but I will make exceptions. I haven't bought any but I might do so for a rare treat. There is no need to be so rigid, right?

I used to dislike dates as a child because the dates I tasted were those red ones from China. The taste and aroma were too strong for me.

It was not until these were served on a local flight a few years ago that I started to appreciate Medjool dates. And of course I loved dates even more when I ate them like this.

Maybe I will get just a small box one of these days. Hmmm... must buy bacon too hee..hee..hee...

This was my loot last Sunday.

Best of all they were fresh stock that day. So I grabbed six packets.

My Sunday lunch.

Nyums!

These were particularly fatty and I was so satiated that I did not eat dinner.

  1. Yums indeed! I am very tempted to copy you and buy beef trimmings and panfry them. Do you wash them first before putting them into your air fryer?

    1. Oops! No, I don't wash it because if I do, it will be wet and won't become crispy. All the bacteria will die after air frying LOL!

  2. Dates and bacons sound delicious! I like eating all sorts of dates, fresh ones, dried dates in herbal soups and syrup dates though syrup dates are a bit too sweet for me. I have eaten huge dates stuffed with walnuts and huge dates stuffed with glutinous rice. All of them taste good ๐Ÿ‘

  5. To cook one portion of beef trimmings that makes you full for one meal (as shown in the photo), is that from one packet or two? P/S: Don't really like dates as they're too sweet...but I've never tasted Medjool's dates though.

    1. Two packets hah..hah.. but I couldn't finish all and kept the rest in the fridge. It depends how hungry I am and if I am ravenous, I can sapu all. I find dates too sweet too and that's why they go so well with salty bacon.

  8. I never bought any of those dates and was tempting to get one small box during my grocery shopping at Aeon last week.

    1. Better to buy a small box if you don't eat much of it. I think I might still have one container in the fridge from last year. LOL!

Talking about dates, we still have some kurma leftover from last year in fridge. I don't take but my man not around to finish it...

  10. Some dates are nice to eat. I like the soft ones but they are very sweet. I guess eating 1 or 2 will be okay. I have not been to the supermarket yet so haven't bought any yet.

    1. I also like those soft ones like Medjool but they are too sweet. I might be tempted to buy one small container even though there is one in the fridge from last year. Not sure can still eat or not.
