Cafe La Fayette Damansara Uptown

Cafe La Fayette has been at Damansara Uptown for ages I think. It used to be situated somewhere near the now closed Frisson Cafe and it recently moved to another location (along the same row as The Ship).

This is pretty much a place that exudes a cosy ambiance which attracts people who are into places that are instagram worthy.

It has banquette seating for those of us who are not so confident that the chairs can hold our weight wahahahaha!! The seat is wide and you will be comfortable with the scatter cushion against your back.

As it's French name suggests, this place serves western food. So you will expect the gamut of pastas, burgers, grilled meats and such. And yes, they serve coffee and desserts.

On my first visit I was in the mood for lamb chops.

It looks quite presentable on the menu but of course there is the disclaimer "Pictures are for illustration purposes only".

So my Grilled Lamb Chop was served looking like this.

I was not asked what sauce I preferred and I do wish that the sauce was served on the side as illustrated. There was also no mint sauce in sight. Fortunately the lamb chops were tender and decently executed.

I did not order drinks and I was pleased to note that water is served on the house.

Then it was time for dessert.

I chose the ChocoBanana Honey Toast.

What can I say? Dessert is always nice especially when it comes with ice cream.

I came back again and on my first visit I saw a lady order fried rice and it looked good.

Village Fried Rice (nasi goreng kampung?) it says.

It's not the usual "nasi goreng kampung" of course.

It looks presentable with colorful ingredients thrown in and generous amount of chicken cubes. But it was soggy and lacking in flavor. So I'm afraid I did not enjoy the fried rice.

Instead of dessert, I opted for an ice blended Mocha. It was all right, looking at the bright side, it was not sweet, just the way I like it.

I wish Cafe La Fayette all the best and though the food may not be as vibrant (in taste) as the ambiance (in my opinion of course), I bet they will have no trouble attracting customers who are into the trend of hanging out at cool looking eateries.

  5. A European-style cafe selling fried rice? Rather dangerous don't you think to order nasi goreng or chow fan from such a place...lol. They taste best coming from a stall or a warung...hah..hah. So expensive some more. I was equally confused when an Asian restaurant (Kim Gary) offered French-style fried rice on its menu. Was wondering what that would look like but dared not order as it'll probably look like local fried rice. Is there even such a thing as French fried rice?...hahahaha! :D

    1. LOL! I reckon the chef is likely local and might whip up a nice fried rice, but no hah...hah... I have also seen American fried rice on one menu and the lady said the American one "tak ada cili" LOL!

  7. I visited this cafe once many years ago but can't remember what's my verdict, must go check back my post. Hehe ^^
I always request for the sauce to be served separately if I order chicken chop or lamb chop.
The fried rice, I can see the rice was quite moist and it was a bit lumpy too. :(

  9. The ambiance look good to attract me to visit soon. I want to eat that dessert ChocoBanana Honey Toast.

That row of shops always sunk after sometime except The Ship!! That restaurant itself is a strong wealth element for Feng Shui.

Those shops that face the same directions as the Starling Mall enjoy excellent energy flow. The 2 big banks and PH are laughing. Why that SHC developer chose that direction for main entrance??

    1. The ambiance is good, very relaxing. I agree with you, that row of shops like got no energy at all, it feels dead. Many restaurants that opened there do not last very long except for the dinosaur The Ship LOL!

The SHC entrance attracts people to walk in but sadly right now, many shops have closed at The Starling and most of the vacant lots have remained empty.
