A Salad And A Cat

Today I brought Belle Belle to the vet. The old girl got her ear infected again. I tried cleaning and medicating her ear but it was not working.

She runs away from me (and hides) after her meals (hoping) to avoid mommy cleaning her ear and applying medicine. It is quite a chore!

So. It was time to bundle her off to the clinic.

Yesterday I made an appointed for her to see the vet.

This is Girl lending her buddy some moral support. As usual, Belle Belle becomes a monster at the clinic. I had to help the vet hold her down and got myself scratched.

Not only that, she jumped off the examination table twice and I had to run after her. Haiz!

Anyway, we both survived (and so did the vet). When I was at the clinic, the patient before Belle Belle was a British Shorthair Blue breed. You know lah, atas cat. The poor thing was ill and needed fluids (via IV drip).

According the the owner, a very nice Malay lady, her cat was stressed because she brought home another two cats. Oh ya, I remember those days when Girl was so stressed with Belle Belle's presence. Before she left, the lady told me "Sayang kucing, kalah anak" hah..hah..hah... In my case, my kucing is my anak.

Back at my office, I set up a box for her under my desk. I made sure to block off access to any small cosy spaces.

As expected, she cozied up to the box as what most cats would do.

And then she fell asleep (every cat's favorite activity).

That's when mommy can whip out her lunch heh..heh...

Now let me introduce another new Kewpie salad dressing.

Creamy Spices - this one is not bad, it has curry powder in it and does pack a slight spicy kick. But I think not everyone will like it, it depends if you are partial to spices and herbs. Let me show you the ingredients.

There is also cumin and coriander powder and oregano and a whole lot of other ingredients. I told my partner that if we actually scrutinize the ingredients list, we might be discouraged to consume the product as there are many chemical additives used. I did feel a bit thirsty after lunch.

I suspect there might be some msg in the dressing though it is not listed. I like this flavor and should drizzle it only sparingly.

  1. Salad? All that meat? There is msg in say...tomatoes and it is perfectly all right to consume but in moderation, of course. I saw cooks at the Chinese restaurants adding the white stuff by the ladle and their ladles are by no means small! I almost fainted!!! And I heard they use the cheap ciplak versions some more, not aji-no-moto.

    1. I hope those claw scratches are all right, not like dog bites. Do ask your vet just to be sure, no need for any shots like those rabies ones for dog bites.

    2. I need lots of meat to keep me full.

  2. Wah, you've got a new carry-all to transport Belle Belle. Is it easier to get her into this carry-all than the traditional pet carrier? What's with Belle2 and her ear infection? She seems to get it so often. I hope it's not because she buzy dengar gossip from other cats...wakakakaka! :D Yeah, my Cookie Monster used to be like that too but I never had to hold her down (I dare not for fear of what you got...scratches), so the vet will get his assistants to hold him down. Doesn't your vet have assistants? But my vet and his assistants are quite experienced and never got scratched (you hold cats down by covering their faces with a cloth and they'll become less aggressive) except once when Cookie drew blood (from the vet and he proceeded to trim his nails...lol, mind you my vet don't do grooming ok). Sorry you got scratched (hope everything's well) but you pay to get other people scratched...wuahahahaha! P/S: This dressing if got raw curry powder taste, then it's not for me

    1. It is easier because there is a top opening, so I can just carry and dump her inside LOL! This carrier is lighter too. Yup, this old girl's ear is very prone to infection (not via gossip LOL! but I think she got it from other infected cats), just the left ear. The vet sampled both ears and checked under the microscope - no ear mites yay! So he gave her a shot and prescribed ear drops, which appear to be quite effective.

The vet has no assistant at the moment. During my previous visit he told me she got pregnant and quit. It might take a while to get a replacement. I reckon for a small practice he might not be able to offer competitive wages. So I had to be his assistant. LOL!

  3. They need to list out all the ingredients. In this case, I see from the ingredients, they are using yeast extract as flavours enhancers so I don't think they need msg. Salty food without msg will make people tasty too. I think I will like the spices in this kewpie flavour. Thanks for the review.

  4. Oh dear, may the scratches on your arms get healed fast. Thanks for taking Belle Belle to the vet to get her ears seen to. Hope Girl doesn't catch that from Belle Belle and Belle Belle's ears recover fully.

  5. Oh dear, I hope the scratches will heal fast. Poor Belle, she must have hated visiting the vet. Hope her ear infection clears soon. The salad looks so yummy. I think I still prefer roasted sesame dressing. With all the herbs and spices in this one, then it is not for hubby.

  6. I haven't see this kewpie creamy spices in market yet. Or maybe I wasn't looking. Lol. I will try if I get myself one.

Really tough bringing pets to vet. Haha. Even vet has to be patient and gentle. Luckily everything was okay although you got some scratches.

  8. I had goosebumps seeing the scratches on your hand. I had sharp ones on my legs when I tried to shower my sister's Persian cat many years ago. It made me wiser after that as I just hosed the cat inside the locked bathroom and did the job well.

    1. LOL! I am trying to imagine the cats being hosed. I saw on Lazada a type of net (like laundry net) where you put the cat inside and bathe it. Dunno how effective that is.

  9. I just bought a bottle of salad dressing also, after so many years of stopping using salad dressing. Mine is similar with yours, something with spice, but lighter in colour.

    1. I usually buy the creamy ones because I can make the vinaigrette ones at home. But these days, I am quite lazy. LOL!
