Soybar - So Good So Smooth!

I love soybean milk and desserts. When I was a child, having a a glass of cold fresh soybean milk was such a treat. Somehow at that time, I did not appreciate tau fu fah (soybean pudding) at all.

Now I will not say no to tau fu fah. This simple dessert has evolved into something fancy with an equally fancy price tag. I have had my fill of soybean desserts from SoylabTono and most recently The Soybean Factory.

In terms of soybean milk, for me it must be the fresh kind. I dislike the one that comes in a carton because it has one kind of smell that puts me off.

However, I make an exception for V-Soy (which come in cartons and glass bottles) which I think is quite delicious especially the V-Soy Multigrain but alas it is too sweet, which is why I stopped taking it. In fact I stopped drinking soybean milk for quite some time.

But today, I fell in love with soybean milk again when I received my first Soybar delivery.

I read about Soybar here and although I checked their website, somehow I was not motivated to place an order. Then recently I read about Soybar again here and that's when I made up my mind to finally try it.

So there you have it - 3 bottles of soybean milk and 3 tubs of cold bean curd.

The flavors are labelled on the bottle caps. I have tried flavored soybean milk before and I must say that I still prefer the original flavor. That is why I opted for original (unsweetened and sweetened just to test the sugar level) and black soy.

I tried the Black Soy first (it's interesting that the soy milk has a greenish hue, my favorite color) and I am very pleased to say that I loved the flavor. And the best part is that it is only lightly sweetened. Yes!

There is no preservatives used and the soybean milk can stay fresh up to 5 days in the fridge. But once opened it is recommended to finish within 3 days. As far as I am concerned, once I opened a bottle, very the sorry I finish it in one go because it was so good hah..hah...hah...

Now for the piece de resistance.

The Cold Bean Curd. I regretted not buying more.

Oh dear God, so silky smooth and barely sweet, this I loved so so much! One tub is not enough. That was pure pleasure in its simplicity. No need for any embellishments (though it would be nice) as it is already so wonderful on its own.

This retails at RM5.00 per tub and my lahling's eyes would roll a few rounds in his eye sockets. But no need to tell him lah. My money, my sukak.

If you want a better deal, buy the Super Value 10 tubs at RM40.00 and you get 2 tubs free. So that averages RM3+ per tub. This auntie can sapu 4 tubs in one go.

Orders can be placed at Soybar and deliveries within designated areas in the Klang Valley (Monday to Saturday) is RM7.00 and it's free for orders above RM30.00. If you want a specific delivery date, do order at least 3 days ahead and you can put in your request upon ordering.

From my experience, the customer service is good and responsive. I requested for delivery between 10:00am and 11:00am and just after 10:00am, I got a message from the transporter with estimated time of arrival. In fact he arrived 10 minutes before ETA. That's what I appreciate - punctuality. The products are delivered via Soybar's own refrigerated truck, so you can be assured of freshness.

Since I enjoyed the soybean milk and the cold bean curd plus the fact that delivery is very efficient, I know where to get my soybean fix. This is not a paid post, ok. I just like to share good things so that you can enjoy it too.

Another plus point when enjoying soybean delights - I don't get hassled by my fatty kitty hee...hee...hee....

  3. I wanna die laffing at your lahling's eyes rolling inside his sockets. I could imagine all the Penang Lang's eyes rolling inside their sockets if this brand ever goes to Penang. The famous folks there look at 5 cents like "Goo Chia Lian" (Bullock cart wheels) except me. I am one who happily pays premium prices for top notch products.

I agree that it is so good, so smooth. I felt so good each time I took the original soya milk and silky smooth pudding. Whoaah!! You really have big lorry tangki to gulp down 4 tubs at one go. I want to try your feat too.
This soya diet has helped many ladies to loose many pounds and qualify for Mrs Malaysia pageant!

I took 6 bottles of SoyBar's soya milk home and kept inside the cold fridge. Drank one bottle per day and I was surprised that the last bottle was still very fresh after a week! My God Son pointed out that it's their expensive imported bottle that allowed their manufacturing process to keep them so fresh without preservatives. The bottle is so excellent quality like Tupperware's brand that I am recycling all of them!!

I watched the NHK's documentary and it shared about the Japanese eating lots of soya diet daily. That made their skin so smooth & white besides keeping many in excellent health. That's why they have the most old aged population in the world today. Soon, you and me would become the oldest bloggers in the world. Ah Hong Chee still blogging at 110 years old with 20 cats at her lap. They are Ah Girl and Belle Belle's great grand kittens. Meow! Wakakakakak!

  4. I also like V-Soy soya milk but stopped because it is too sweet for me. If I can get these in Ipoh, I would want to try too. Girl doesn't even want to look! Lol!

  5. So glad to have introduced this so good Soybar to you before even the owner's godfather...wakakakakaka! :D Very happy to know that you loved it. If the black soy is only lightly sweet, I'd like to try that since I do enjoy flavours of black sesame. The new packaging is much better...stands out more. P/S: I read your comment that you couldn't locate the one in Uptown. Perhaps the address might help...26 Jalan SS21/39 (I lifted it from their FB, not sure if they're still there...the problem with them opening a stall in coffee shops is that they can change venues in an instance like what happened in my taman). If you can find it, then you can try their tau fu fah with all kinds of different toppings that won't cost you a bomb like Soylab & Soybean Factory...hihihi! ;)

    1. Thanks for the introduction and to think that the Godfather himself was blur wahahahaha!!! The black soy has a richer flavor I think (or I could be biased due to the color) compared to regular. When I tried the sesame (not to be confused with black soy) from Tono, I found the sesame flavor quite strong. Don't know about Soybar's but I am tempted to try it just for a taste. The Honeydew and red bean should be nice.

Oh ya, I did find the coffee shop but the Soybar stall was not there at that time. Maybe I could try my luck again. I noticed that some stalls that were there previously had disappeared/moved.

    2. Oh, I'm a bit confused here...Soybar's black soy is not made with black sesame? I assumed coz it was black...lol. If so, what gives it the black colour then?

If the Soybar stall is not there when you visited, it could mean they upped and left to another coffee shop, otherwise the stall should still be physically there (with TM's handsome godson's face plastered on the stall....kekeke) but not opened only.

    3. There are many varieties of soybeans and one of them is black, more expensive than the regular white variety. I had my first intro to black soy milk at Soylab, theirs is black while Soybar's has a greenish tinge. Must be due to the pigmentation just like purple cabbage gives off a bluish tinge when in contact with water.

I Went to the coffee shop yesterday and saw an empty stall with nothing plastered on it. So I guess they must have upped and left :(
