Pasta and Dessert

Yesterday I decided to have fish again with pasta heh..heh... This madam is really enjoying her carbs!

I have a thing for pasta. So this time it was Basil Pesto Pasta Bowl with Baked Salmon as my protein. I don't usually eat fish and would prefer chicken or even better, beef.

Looks nice or not?

I was quite happy with my meal. The salmon was a bit dry but understandable as it is quite tricky to get it just right. If I cook it myself, I know how to adjust the timing and in all honesty I feel safer if the one ordered via delivery is cooked through for food safety reasons.

There were lots of goodies in the pasta - roasted cherry tomatoes, roasted pumpkin and green peas. I might attempt making something like this at home.

And now, dessert!

My partner was gifted this the day before and he passed it to me. You eat lah, he said. He is not a dessert person. Rezeki jangan ditolak! hee..hee...

Ooohh! What is that? I could smell pandan and it came with a tub of gula Melaka syrup and desiccated coconut.

So I poured the syrup over the thing and scattered the coconut flakes over it.

Ah! I think this is a cronut. Is it? Don't ask my partner, he is blur on these things. Whatever it is, it was quite nice, better eaten fresh on the day bought of course.

Last weekend I received delivery of steaks I ordered from Feast Market. I'll get down to cooking steaks soon as I have not had steaks in a while.

  1. Yes, you are right. It is cronut! Dotty is well known for its cronut. I haven't tried this flavour before. Previously I ordered salted egg cronuts. Now I am very tempted to buy this salmon pasta meal. Looks so good. Let me check if it delivers to my place. Looking forward to reading your review on your new batch of steaks that you have ordered.

    1. OK, thanks for confirming the cronut. I won't mind buying to eat some more if I come across a cronut. So far have not seen it at any bakeries near me.

  2. First, it was fish & pasta...and now pasta and dessert. I don't think I've tried green goddess dressing before...I heard it's made with tarragon & chives instead of basil for pesto, so it should taste different.

Ah, I see you're trying another supplier (other than your regular Honest Butcher) for steaks. I wish I could cook my own steaks but I neither have the tools (cast iron pan) nor your skills to cook it perfectly...haiz! :'(

    1. I quite like the green goddess dressing and there are many versions of it. The earliest version I spotted in a cook book used avocado.

Aiyah...just eat your steak at a good restaurant. There's nothing like having someone cook a steak for you and you no need to scrub the cast iron pan. LOL!

    1. Yes, it came with the bag. If I am not wrong, they give you the bag free on your first delivery.

  4. What is that? Looks like one kind of Malay kuih, bingka or something. Gosh!!! I can't eat those stuff now that I am on a low sugar diet. Used to enjoy them so much!!!

    1. Apparently it is a cronut - a cross between a croissant and a donut!

  5. i can eat that pandan cronut just like that (without the syrup) coz it seems like it already sprinkled with sugar. Light sugar, aromatic pandan and flaky texture = superb combination!

    1. Actually I would prefer it plain too. Just that since they give syrup and coconut, just tabur lah. LOL!

  6. The fish looks too pale for me, I would pan fry/air fry the skin part to make it crispier. :P

  8. I want to try this Cronut with all the syrup and flakes. We are both blessed with partners who are not the dessert persons. High 5! It is their lossssss la.
