Lockdown Day #10 : My Pizza Tak Jadi

So far so good. I have been cooking and not ordering in. Grabfood is wondering what happened to me hah..hah...

Today I cooked Kari Kapitan.

I also cooked some other stuff over the past few days.

Soup with corn, carrots, celery, tomatoes and minced oink oink.

Meat and potato patties.

This is my most used pan in the kitchen to date.

My partner loves these.

But I removed the overly browned ones in case he kena sore throat.

I used up the last of my luncheon meat to make omelette.

I also ate some salad with my leftover pasta. Must have veggies lah.

Drizzled with my new favorite Kewpie dressing.

I love the spicy tangy taste.

Today I had to use up the last two wraps. So I thought I would make some kind of pizza.

I fried up some minced beef.

But my pizza tak jadi because the wrap only crisped up along the edges but the center part was still so soft. So I cannot cut into wedges. In the end I folded and ate it like a tostada

But my kari kapitan was awesome wahahaha!!

  1. I saw the hot spicy Kewpie the other day. Did not buy, stick to the roasted sesame dressing.

    All yummy homecooked.

    1. I don't know why now I seem to dislike the sesame dressing.

  4. Yes, I saw the hot spicy Kewpie sesame dressing in the supermarket. I didn't buy because I wasn't sure about it. Since you like it so much, I am willing to try. I love meat patties too. Your kari kapitan looks beautiful and delicious. I bought the paste but need to buy chicken.

    1. Using the ready made paste is so much easier but I wonder if it tastes like mine. LOL!

  5. I always loved to eat thick Kari Kapitan with lots of potatoes. I would eat them liddat without rice. Yums!

Looking at your failed pizza, I think I wanna buy the ready made crusts to bake my own style. My wife doesn't eat because of gluten allergy. I love those very crispy and burnt crusts. Shiok la!

    1. Oh, I thought kari kapitan don't put potatoes hah..hah... But why not? Next time I will put because my lahling loves potatoes.

    2. Btw, just for your info, Sally's Kitchen's kari kapitan also had potatoes in them. I, for one, love potatoes in curries (like your partner) more than the chicken actually...kekeke! ;)

    3. Yup, I do notice that people often fight over the potatoes rather than the chicken!

  6. So tasty all your food. You must be enjoying yourself with all the cooking but the person who enjoy the most is your partner cos can eat good tasty food mah. Even for a pizza, the center dough won't be crispy seeing that you put so much toppings on it. So ok la, as long as all finished eaten is considered successful already.

  7. Never mind lah that your loaded pizza tak jadi...at least you improvised and ate it like a tostada! That's what cooking is all about...we tweak and improvise :) Maybe because you laid it flat on a sheet pan, the bottom never got toasted + the wrap (unlike a pizza dough) is quite thin, so it soaked up the tomato sauce. That's just my thought.

I can see that your kari kapitan is awesome...looks like Sally's Kitchen punya! ;) I'd gladly eat that. When I make meatballs, they're also my husband's favourite (looks like we not only have similar tastes, our other halves do too....wakakakaka!).

I've also been cooking quite a bit...but all common dishes, so no need to post lah in my blog. ^_~ I've used my frozen sambal a fair bit in prawns & stir-fry vegetables, also made black pepper dishes with pork & prawns, had roasted salads (I saw this hot & spicy Kewpie dressing but dare not buy in case it's too spicy!), lots of American-style breakfast with bacon & eggs, egg, bacon & luncheon meat sandwiches too, among some of the things I cooked. This time it's much easier to get fresh foodstuff with the small wet market near my house being allowed to open (also not an insane amount of people at one time compared to the first lockdown).

    1. hah..hah..hah..

Well, your common dishes sound pretty good lah! I must warn you about the Hot & Spicy Kewpie dressing. If you look at the label, you will see "tomato and cheese" which I saw after liking the dressing. I think it was psychological because after seeing the "cheese" I felt the taste was funny LOL! But not anymore because it does not have any cheese taste.

  9. Homecooked is really the best... yes, Grabfood has to wait.. but I beh tahan yesterday, ordered some kueh mueh which were overly sweet! I think I stick to homecooked delivery food first. I want to try cooking your minced meat patties with potatoes.. Have never done that before.

  10. All your homecooked food look so yummy, got soup, got meat dishes, got salad and pizza too. My fav would be your curry kapitan and patties yums!

Maybe the craze for grabfood has simmer down, I also never order grabfood and foodpanda delivery so far.

    1. It isn't a craze because people don't do it for fun. For me who don't cook and don't want to go out, delivery services like grabfood, food panda, beepit, Lalamove are a blessing. Use them also give them business to survive cos they need to eat too.

  11. I made pizza with wrap before and it was a successful attempt. Maybe your topping is too wet?
Your curry Kapitan looked creamy and thick, I can imagine my rice being flooded with this luscious gravy, yum~~

    1. I don't know what went wrong but you could be right about the topping being too wet. Kari kapitan must be eaten with lots of rice. LOL!
