Losing MCO Weight : Slowly Slowly

You know I love to eat.  During the MCO, I ate. Duduk rumah diam-diam leads to a lot of makan-makan. My weight loss strategy this time is to go slow and reasonable.

No more cutting out carbohydrates. No more deprivation. This time it is all about reasonableness and moderation. Sound good?

After all, what's the hurry? I am not a bodybuilder and neither am I a model or a bikini competitor (too old anyway, hah..hah...)

I start off this month with two square meals a day. Just two meals - lunch and dinner. No eating in between, no after dinner nibbles. It's time to ditch all the bad habits I formed during the MCO. I think that would make a big difference. I can make an allowance on Saturdays, my new cheat day.

I signed up for a 5 day meal delivery with The Naked Lunchbox. After trying their meals via Grabfood, I found the food wholesome, satisfying and delicious.

Day #1

Basil Pesto Pasta Bowl with grilled chicken breast.

The pasta tossed in basil pesto had a mild flavor and the chicken breast was moist and lightly seasoned. I loved the  green peas but I am afraid that I have grown tired of the side of steamed veges.

The meal came with a welcome drink of Watermelon & Mint. I did not like the drink as the watermelon juice had a strong  "green" taste.

Day #2

Lemongrass Bliss Bowl with lemongrass chicken and a creamy peanut sauce. Overall I liked this meal although the lemongrass was very muted. I did not like the peanut sauce because I could barely taste peanuts. The sauce could be improved.

Day #3

Peri Peri Roast Chicken which I have had before. It was good except that the sauce was not as nice as the one I had earlier. And there were those dreaded steamed veges again.

Day #4

This Korean BBQ Nourish Bowl is the best meal by far.

Delicious and very filling. As far as the steamed veges were concerned, I would prefer less carrots and more broccoli or cauliflower. The kimchi was also very nice.

Day #5

Beef Lasagne with Gravy

It was just OK and the gravy was very diluted and did not have any distinct flavor. And yup, there were those steamed veges which I ate dipped in the gravy. This meal is my least favorite.

So what's for dinner? Not exactly clean fare but at least I am doing one meal of any kind, no side orders and no more eating after that.

Day #1

Lei Cha! I can sustain on this because I was feeling very bloated on Monday after (my final) binge eating on Sunday. So this was a balm to my suffering tummy.

Day #2

heh...heh... my favorite chu yuk fun! Sinful but so good.

Day #3

Vietnamese beef pho. A healthier noodle meal.

But the insufficient protein caused me to get hungry when I got home. I confess that I caved in to my hunger... I ate two rolls of Oreo cookies (the last of my stash).

But I am not going to beat myself over that. Note to self - up protein intake and for heaven's sake do not stock up on anymore munchies in the house. Hard boiled eggs are a good emergency snack option.

Day #4

Black Garlic Ramen. With added chasu. I had to have the side order because there is only one slice of chasu in the ramen - not enough to keep me full for the evening.

From Ramen X@A Foodie's Nest The Starling. They dish out pretty decent ramen for a foodcourt outlet.

Good to the last drop.

Day #5

I turned to Dahmakan because I was given a 30% discount. I noticed that they have changed their packaging. No more box but a bowl.

The smoky BBQ beans were good. I have had this meal before and I would say it is an improvement in terms of the chicken - this time it was chicken leg instead of breast. But the amount of beans were still too little.

Of course I am keeping up with moderate exercise as well as intermittent fasting. A slow and steady sustainable weight loss is the way to go.

My cat, all sleepy on Sunday afternoon. She has been forgiven for hurting mommy.

  1. I love to eat too. And been trying to lose weight. Haha.

My man bought me a treadmill during CMCO and since then I have been doing some walk and jog on the treadmill. No more excuse not to workout. Lol.

Never order from Dahmakan. I am not sure there is such service over here or not.

  3. Yes, your plan sounds good. No need to torture oneself as life is short. I think your meals prep are as good if not better than the 5 day plan but of course need effort la whereas to give one a rest, better to just order the meals. You eat all your dinners (almost all) at the Starling food court. How is business at the Starling food court?

    1. Business at the food court is picking up. It's good that they are now open in full swing and I see a good number of customers dining there.

  4. Ah, so you don't like green taste in the watermelon mint juice. Do you like kedondong or umbra juice without sour plum in it or cucumber juice?

    1. I have never tried without the sour plum so I don't know how I will react hah..hah.. As for cucumber juice, I don't like it.

    2. Cucumber juice also got slight green taste. That's why you don't like it.

  6. So much to eat, where got "naked"? How to lose weight like that? Black garlic ramen...I think I must try the other variety I have soon - claims to have lots of garlic!

    1. What they meant by "naked" is the food is without additives, artificial flavorings or preservatives hah..hah... Their portion size is quite ample, surprisingly.

  7. Is it cheaper to order the 5-day plan as a whole...and do you get to choose the dishes you want? I don't think I can try this Naked Lunchbox as I think my area is not in their delivery zone though I do see Ampang listed but delivery is RM10 which is too much to pay even if they consider my area as under Ampang. I'm aware that dahmakan changed their packaging to a paper bowl as I received an email from. The new packaging is supposed to give you an improved dining experience. So, did it? ;) P/S: Cats are like our children...of course we forgive them! ^_~

    1. The savings on the 5-day plan is actually marginal. I did a calculation - compare if I ordered daily and 5-day plan, the total saving is only between RM4-RM5 only. Which means that delivery is not free for the 5-day plan. Yes, you can choose your meals on the 5-day plan. I am ordering for another week but will start cooking my own after this because I cannot tahan eating the steamed veggies hah..hah...

The new Dahmakan packaging makes the food easier to eat because the bowl is more roomy. Ah, my cat is the child that I never had!

  9. I have lost 2 kg during MCO and now have gained back 3 kg! Ever since my kids came home, we have been eating too much carbs, durians and all... once they leave, I have to discipline myself again! hahaha..

  10. Beginning of MCO, I cooked and eat 3 main meals a day. Now I am eating 2 main meals a day, just breakfast and dinner with light lunch. I think I managed to lose a bit of weight. Good idea to do it slow and steady, no rush.
