Beach Corner Seafood, Batu Ferringhi Penang

The evening before we left Penang, I had the opportunity to go to Beach Corner Seafood at Batu Ferringhi. This place was suggested by my partner's sister.

Seeing how popular this place is, she made reservations and pre-ordered 3 of their most popular dishes. It was a bit of a distance away (though not that far) from where we stayed.

We got there before 7pm. While waiting for the orders to arrive, we stepped out to the beach.

There were many people and as such, I did not take many photos.

I was quite hungry by then.

This is the very popular Hainanese spring rolls. This dish has to be pre-ordered to avoid disappointment.

After taking a bite, I can understand why it is so popular. The dipping sauce is pretty good too.

This one is also pre-ordered. I absolutely loved this asam fish which is cooked using the belly part of the fish which is very tender. I ate a lot hee..hee...

This is the third pre-ordered dish which is duck and yam. The claypot was filled to the brim and the contents are not visible. Sorry I couldn't dig out the yam and duck since we had company. I enjoyed this dish too, something I have never had before.

Inche kabin! My second time eating this very flavorful fried chicken. I won't get tired of this one.

This mixed vegetable dish is also quite good. It was referred to as "Teochew Char".

Lastly, the humble but ever delicious stir fried sweet potato leaves which is a favorite of everyone at the table.

This wraps up my trip to Penang!

So that is called Teochew char - I had that not too long ago, post on it coming up soon once I get all the Kuching posts out of the way, last one tomorrow - it sure looked like it was never going to end. 5. You went to a Beach Corner Seafood....but didn't have seafood? Aiyah, I was so looking forward to seeing some prawns and crabs lah! So, this is a case where the food is good in a touristy place? ;) That Hainanese spring roll is like a deep fried popiah? I've had a yam dish that looked like that (but without the duck), all gooey and tasty :) The vege dish looks almost similar to loh hon chai but without the excessive gravy (never heard of teochew char vege before).

    1. hah..hah... I knew you would be disappointed. Well, I am not much of a seafood fan and seafood in such places would cost a bomb. So the only seafood was the assam fish :D Yes, the Hainanese spring roll is basically a popiah but the skin is thicker and the size bigger. I have also not heard of Teochew char vege and when I googled, I got the usual chap chye recipe hah..hah...
