When You're Hungry And He's Not

It was that Saturday when I was having a blast (hah..hah..) at the Thailand Food Fair and since I was packing food for myself, I got something from Salad Atelier for my partner.

I already prepared food for him that morning which he ate. Just as well that he was hungry again and he ate what I tapau for him.

So that evening when we went for dinner at Great Delight Private Kitchen (CLOSED), he was not that hungry. Me? I was hungry. What I ate for lunch barely scratched the surface, so to speak hah...hah....

Since he was not hungry, my partner suggested that we order a noodle and vegetable.

Gravy koay teow and .............

..... spinach stir fried with garlic and salt.

The spinach was a little bland for me. But the gravy koay teow was very good. As a matter of fact, I strongly believe that I could polish off the entire platter all by myself.

It was very nice eaten with cili padi, garlic and soy sauce. My partner did not each much, so I had the lion's share of the noodles. But still .... heh...heh....

By the way, we were here a few months earlier for my partner's birthday dinner. There were 6 of us and here's what we had :

These photos believe it or not, were taken by my partner. He was in a jolly mood.

If I remember correctly, this is claypot taufoo.

Stir fried spinach.

This pork trotter was served whole and then taken back to the kitchen and sliced.

Then there was the sweet and sour pork.

I'm afraid I did not like it because the taste was very different from the sweet and sour pork that I am used to.

My favorite of the evening was this steamed chicken which came with a very delicious condiment which I think is made with coriander leaves.

But it made me very thirsty afterwards (I took a lot of it). The only dish missing from the photos was the wonderful steamed fish.

Now back to our dinner for two with only two dishes, which is highly unusual, I was actually suitably satisfied thanks to the spinach.

  1. That is indeed gravy kway teow....too much gravy for me! :O Spinach doesn't count as a dish coz when they wilt down after cooking, there's so little of it....haha! ;D From the photos of your partner's birthday dinner, the steamed chicken would also be my favourite of the lot (after the steamed fish with no photo)! ^_~

    1. I also think there is too much gravy! Apparently some people like it that way. Gosh, I also liked the steamed fish. The other dishes were so so to me in terms of taste.

    1. The dishes here are more Taiwanese style and the flavors are quite muted. Need to bring our own sambal belacan to jazz things up LOL!

  9. That day I also ate wat tan hor with that much gravy and I did not like it. The gravy is watery too. I prefer gravy that is not that watery. After I eat, I was so "jai" - the wat tan hor is cloying. Looks like you like yours. Pork trotter for birthday celebration is good! Nice selection of dishes to celebrate a birthday!
