As usual, even though it was Saturday, I went to work. Later, I went out to tapau nasi lemak for mum at Say Yes Cafe. Then I went to Jaya Grocer to pick up some supplies for mum.
I took a shortcut via the Uptown 7 car park and to get there I had to pass by the Samsung shop. They reopened after renovations and the lion dance troupe was waiting to start their performance.
I previously disliked their dressing but this time the dressing is different (not sickly sweet) and I liked it a lot. What I do is dip my fork into the (thick) dressing and then pick up items from the salad bowl.
So where is the misbehaviour you ask?
An iced Latte. It was very thin, so this was not a good iced Latte.
The Strawberry Shortcake was spongy with tender crumbs but I did not like the strawberry filling (artificial flavoring).
While the Tiramisu was just an ordinary chocolate cake. Not a very good one at that. I should have had my cakes at Red Kettle.
Then I went back to The Starling for my post -meal walk. Saw this new Tiramisu creation outside Baskin Robbins.
Happy belated birthday π₯³π π
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mun!
DeleteHi dear friend, Happy belated birthday. π Sorry to hear you weren't π’ In a birthday mood. The cakes look good.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda! I am feeling better now.
DeleteNowadays also, if buy cakes from normal cafes, need to adjust expectations that the cakes may turn out to be pasar malam cakes. Only reputable cafes with a slice of cake starting from MYR 20 and above else the cakes may not be made from real butter.
ReplyDeleteTo a certain extent true. The cakes at Red Kettle are excellent. The ones at Lavie (Damansara Kim) though more affordable are also very good. With benefit of hindsight, I should have gone there for cakes.
DeleteHappy Belated Birthday to you PH.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Judy!
DeleteWah, the last quote is positive self talk which believes in the concept of self fulfilling prophecy.
ReplyDeleteYes, self mantra.
DeleteOh, so where did you have the cakes, instead of at red kettle?
ReplyDeleteI had the cakes at Yin's Sourdough Cafe. The cakes I had there prior to this were good but somehow not good this time around.
DeleteFrom the look and how you described, I think I will prefer the tiramisu. Dear, you are not alone, we do have our down days as who never has problems in life. Hope you will feel better, and I think you really need the last quote. Hope my encouragement and comment will make you feel alright.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I do feel better today after a good night's sleep.
DeleteI recalled and remember that you plan to eat Korean on your birthday, in the end you didn't but had food at Red Kettle. Correct me if I am wrong.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very good memory!
DeleteOh sorry, or was it that the Korean restaurant (last photo) is still not opened yet. Paiseh paiseh.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to eat that the new Korean eatery but until today it is still not opened yet. LOL!
DeleteHi dear friend, when you said you woke up feeling tired and blah...I hope you haven't been sick. Whatever has been getting you down, I hope that you will feel better soon! Sending you a hug and friendly chirps from my two male zebra finches.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you, Linda! I was not sick but feeling down from stress at work. Not to worry, I am feeling a lot better today :)
DeleteYou deserve a cheat day on your birthday and eat whatever you desired.
