I needed to eat lunch and since Menya Appare gives customers the choice of substituting ramen noodles with boiled cabbage, I thought that was what I would have.
I have not been there for quite some time. When I scanned the QR code, I could not find the option to substitute the noodles. Well, I could have asked the servers but I chose to just eat something else.
I also got a gyoza. Sorry I can't remember the proper name. It was a mentaiko gyoza or something like that.
It didn't look like the usual gyoza that I am accustomed to.
Ah! Apparently the gyoza is upside down. I saw something like this on Megan Markle's cooking show. Not that I am a fan (of her's).
I have been following loads of gossip on her and Prince Harry on Youtube as relaxation when I am winding down in the evenings. Yup, my guilty pleasure. Haiz!
Well, I am neither a fan nor a detractor of the runaway royals.
Good morning! Weather looks good over at SG early in the morning. The chicken karaage look delicious to me and confirmed chop by you. Slurps! The gyoza looks like the base of salmon belly. For gyoza, I prefer them fried. And just two or three pieces still ok but too many will taste geli.
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I prefer the normal gyoza but the filling must be minced pork. I can eat 5 hee...hee....
DeleteAm having my caffeine (Mac Americano) and jalan jalan at the pasar pagi before having my lunch later and WFH. Have a good yummy day ahead!
ReplyDeleteI also had my caffeine fix at the office yesterday.
DeleteJust chicken and gyoza are enough for you? Looks like not much. π
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly it was enough. It was the chicken karaage that was filling.
DeleteStill good morning to you PH. Just sharing a quote I read from a book: "Your perception of things is determined by the kind/what kind of person you are."
ReplyDeleteThat quote I completely agree. The same situation can be perceived very differently by different people depending on their attitude, their values, their life experiences etc.
DeleteI very loh soh lol! Discover another nice quote to share with you: "Do not look back on the past, no matter good or bad, just look at what you are at present. This is living in the present moment."
ReplyDeleteMuahahaha you can be as loh soh as you like! Another wise quote, the past is past. We cannot despair over what had been said and done and we cannot live is past glories.
DeleteFirst got cheat days, then official carb days....and now unintentional carb days! Lol! What carb day is next? I know what you mean as not looking like the usual gyoza. It's becoming more common to see Japanese gyozas and Taiwanese dumplings served this way (maybe for the presentation). I think these dumplings or pot stickers are first steamed in a covered pan before they pour a thin layer of batter in the end to crisp up and sear the bottom of the dumpling. I actually prefer the old way where they get a good browning at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Don't we love excuses hah..hah... Me too, I prefer the usual pot stickers. All these fancy ways of preparing don't appeal to me.
DeleteDear PH, good evening, hope you had had a good day! After work, so am into some reading, would like to share a quote or rather some words of wisdom with you my friend: "Nothing lasts forever in this world, nothing is absolute in this world, everything is impermanent." So what I derive from it is, try to learn to be independent as soon as we can cos we can never rely on anyone forever. I miss Mr TM, if he is still around, he will be able to share some more wisdom too with a "tinge" of humour. Nite nite!
ReplyDeleteI also do some reading when I get home but I listen to some podcast on Youtube first. That quote is very true and factual. Oh yes, I also miss Mr TM and his humorous comments. I like to think that he is entertaining the good people in heaven.
DeleteLife and time are the only two things in this world that will forever decrease, not increase. On the contrary, age is forever on the increase but never on the decrease, haiz! (From the book I read also LOL!)
ReplyDeleteThat must be a very good book that you are reading!
