Golden Destinations

Yesterday I went for a bit of jalan-jalan at The Starling. What? Ya ... ya .... You are right. I jalan-jalan at The Starling all the time.

But not the two days before when I had to attend two full days of training. By the end of day two, I was brain dead and mentally exhausted.

I was very tired and when I got home, I dragged my feet to complete my chores. Then I had a shower and plonked myself down for a good restful evening. Needless to say, I zonked out before 8:00pm and thankfully woke up refreshed.

Now, lunch.

You know where, right?

It was around 12:30pm and whoa! The place was almost full.

Yup, my duck place, Twins Signature Roast Duck. I wasn't expecting so many people judging from the number of diners I see in recent times.

This is Kopi O and not Kopi C but it's all right. The leng lui who knows my favorite drink was not around. So.

The duck, I am happy to say, was tender and juicy and delicious as it should be.

Then it was off for a walk.

The Golden Destinations travel fair starts 23 to 25 May 2025. The booths were just being set up.

Dubai.

Egypt I presume.

Any Jacky Cheung fans out there?

Since I got no life to go on holidays, I adjourned to Popular Bookstore.

I saw some more of Boey Cheeming's books but the book fair is over. So no more discounts.

Apparently he has another book, How Was Your Day. I'll look out for this one the next book fair.

Then I went up to the food court and noted that the vegetarian stall (Little Tree) has closed. Perhaps vegetarian fare is not so popular here.

There was a long queue at IlaoIlao.

Ah! It was the third Wednesday of the month and there is a 33% discount. I used to chase for this discount but not anymore.

Then I passed by Thai Tai.

It looked like they are doing well.

And then, leng lui. Good for her, she was wearing slippers, very comfy and sensible.

  1. Good morning! Usually I will hit the bed by around 9.00pm, the latest will be 10.00pm. You will feel the difference when you wake up having a quality and good sleep. Certain times when I did not sleep well, I would feel tired and sleepy throughout the day. What I did was to take short naps when I had the time and was WFH. I always see many people feeling tired and sleepy on public transport and closing their eyes to rest of dozing off. Been a few years since I travel overseas long distance for holidays. I told my neighborhood auntie when she asked me: "still got go overseas for holidays or not?", Singapore is like a little Thailand, little Myanmar, little Indonesia and even little England or France because we have many helpers and expatriates from overseas coming to work and live in Singapore as no need to go overseas. Wash, that leng lui got hour glass figure.

    1. *typo, or dozing off. I guess people living in the cities are very stressed and don't get good sleep.
*Typo, so no need to go overseas

    3. Good morning! I slept very well last night and I feel very sharp and fresh. Somehow I am unable to take afternoon naps (my only opportunity is weekends of course) unless if I am sick and on medications. Over here too we have mini overseas countries LOL! Don't worry about the typos. Our phones can be annoying and sometimes change words that we type like it is so clever hah...hah...

    1. I have many books that I have yet to read! I was very tempted to get Boey's new book. So far I have read the recent ones that I bought during the book fair. Loved the stories as they evoke familiar childhood memories and a few chuckles.

    3. In his book no. 7 he recounts his primary school days in Singapore and how he had to travel 2 hours daily both ways to get to school from Johor. If I had to do that, I would pengsan!

    4. PH: Quite a few Malaysians did that for their children, travel to and fro Singapore for their school education knowing that the level of education as well as English is loads better (as proven by Boey...lol). In all his 6 books in the When I was a Kid series from 1 - 7 (don't know why he missed the no. 6 during the pandemic I think, the books were from 1-5 and then 7), there's always stories from his school days that we can relate to (after all, that was when he was a kid...lol).

Libby: Yeah, those childhood memories are very relatable....and you can't help but have a good chuckle.

    5. Kris : The travelling time for quality education in Singapore is such a sacrifice (a worthwhile one) for both parents and children. Oh, I wasn't aware that book 6 is missing! He must have lost count hee...hee... I simply love the way he tells his story. Some of it is so hilarious especially how he depicted his mum and the way she spoke and reacted to some situations.
