The last time I visited Penang Kimberley Duck Kuih Chiap, I had their Kuih Chiap. You know how I feel about kuih chiap, right? Hah!
Last Saturday, I revisited with the intention of getting their meat side dishes (to stay carnivore while eating out).
I noted that their one sheet laminated menu has been revamped into booklet form with lots more dishes.
This Assorted Platter caught my eye.
- Pork Intestine
- Pork Heart
- Pork Ears
- Pork Blood
- Pork Skin
- Eggs
- Dried Tofu
- Duck Drumstick
- Pickles
Hmmm... very much like what I used to eat at Teo Chew Lor.
Tofu, intestine and a generous plonk of fried garlic. Don't get too excited about the garlic. Not pleasant because they were very hard and grainy, though having a nice fried garlic taste.
I loved the chopped mustard greens (referred to as pickles on the menu) and chili dip. In fact I requested for another serving of dip.
This platter was very filling though I may prefer some items more than others. Definitely reserved for days when I am very hungry.
Saturday it was filled up and busy. But I did not go and browse because some of the clothing items are ridiculously priced. Besides, they are not to my liking.
Good morning! It's raining in SG now. Bring down the hot temperature a little. I welcome the rain. Been a long time since I ate at my neighborhood food centre's kway chap stall. I would usually order 2 bowls of kway with dishes of pork belly, big intestines and braised egg. But I have been avoiding animal parts like intestines, ears, etc for some time. Have a good day ahead!
ReplyDeleteGood morning! It was raining here too on that day but for short while only. I used to wonder what is kway chap and now I know. LOL!
DeleteWow! That is a nice platter. I have eaten the braised items at this eatery and they are tasty 😋 will definitely eat at this place again if I have a chance.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice smooth day! Enjoy your lunch walk! 😊
Thank you! My walks are not so enjoyable now due to the heat and the heavy sweating. LOL!
DeleteHow much is Donald's half duck already? This assorted innards platter is in the same pricey boat per meal. Which one is more expensive? Ya, I wouldn't want pig ears, skin & blood in my platter too. P/S: The garlic looks overfried which contributed to its texture.
ReplyDeleteDonald's half duck is RM46.00 while this platter is RM42.00. I would say in terms of volume (judging from how my stomach feels LOL!) it is comparable. If only they did not over fry the garlic, it would be perfect.
DeleteThe fried garlic looked over-fried, did they taste bitter?
ReplyDeleteNot bitter but hard >.<
