Carnivoring @ Twins Signature Roast Duck

I have not been to Twins Signature Roast Duck, Damansara Utama as frequently as I used to.

Reason - the quality of the duck is inconsistent. Sometimes the meat is tender and juicy and sometimes on the drier side (especially the breast).

But I still come by (taking the risk) since this is one of the few restaurants where I can get (almost) carnivore compliant food.

The layout of the restaurant has been revamped. The cashier counter is now at the front.

The meat counter is now at the back (photo taken around 10:30am when I went to tapau duck rice for mum).

They have installed sliding doors so it is no longer open air since they have also installed two air conditioners.

I was there Tuesday around 12:00pm. My theory is that after the public holiday (Monday) the ducks should be fresh hah...hah...

Coffee was good and was served even before I sent in my order. That's how well they know me (in spite of the infrequent visits).

I was right. The duck was fresh. Very succulent and juicy, even the breast portion. Best of all, the meat was fatty. It was lip smackingly good.

Those ducks, siew yoke and char siew hanging on display are replicas.

I thought these waving cat deco are cute.

And then there were these golden piggies.

On my way to The Starling, I walked through the garden next to the Uptown 7 carpark.

This was the only flowering plant. Then I connected to the "secret garden".

The Frangipanis were flowering. A few weeks ago, there were hardly any flowers (maybe due to the very hot weather).

There were also these purple flowers.

Back at the office I later had a cup of kefir and closed my eating window at 2:00pm. So that was my OMAD for the day.

  1. Ah, good that you closed the window early at 2 pm. I think you can ask them the duck is fresh or not before ordering it. I think they will reply truthfully if the duck is roasted on the day or the previous day.

  2. Same here for me. The roasted pork/char siew/chicken/duck stall at a neighbourhood coffeeshop, cetain days the boneless roasted duck drumstick rice was yums, there was one day I went it was yikes, not sure is it the quality that day was not good or because I wasn't feeling very well that day so anything would be tasteless to me.

  4. I agree with you, some stalls' or restaurants' staff or boss their memory so good and they know us so well even though we don't visit them so frequently. Like today, I went to Boon Keng Food Centre to have my nasi lemak lunch, the female staff, before I say or order anything, she said "fried chicken chop no more liao", lol! She remembers that I always order rice, runny fried egg, luncheon meat and fried chicken chop from them. Their nasi lemak is good with lemak taste and the dishes great also at a reasonable price of S$3.40. My day today was so far so good, hope you have a wonderful one too!

  5. Just sidetrack a bit, that day I had char siew rice and the next day roasted pork rice, I told the boy staff: "I want to eat Pig Rice today!" He replied: "Can can, which type of pig you want, char siew or roasted pork?" Lol !

  6. Perhaps they moved the meat counter behind is because they don't have a lot of ducks on display at one time, so better not put it in front (like my case when I was there, only 2 were hanging at opening time some more). Those that put in front usually have lots of them hanging (people tend to associate more ducks = must be good coz they can sell...lol).

    1. Perhaps you are right. From my observation, their business seems to have dropped quite a bit. My thinking of the layout change was more of placing the meat counter closer to the kitchen hah...hah...
