Everyday I visit my parents and buy them lunch. Last week I cooked (which I don't mind at all) but it is not sustainable in the long run.
I would have to go to work late and that is very costly in terms of time cost. So Monday to Fridays it will have to be Grabfood or tapau near my office.
Yesterday it was Teriyaki Chicken Grain Bowl from La Juiceria Superfoods.
Speaking of changing tastebuds as mentioned in my previous post, there are things that I used to love which now taste quite awful.
This Thai chili sauce used to be one of my favorite condiments. But now I find it sickly sweet and it has an artificial taste (like chemicals).
Speaking of sweet, I read this Instagram post from Dr Razin Jaafar (a local doctor who advocates low carb diet and promotes consumption of red meat and saturated fats).
Type 2 diabetes can be reversed by way of change in dietary habits but many patients are reluctant to give up their favorite carbs and sugary treats. Type 1 diabetes cannot be reversed but can be controlled with diet modification (of course insulin and other medications are needed).
Spot on! Hospitals are like blood suckers where medicines cost a big bomb. However, we need hospitals to stay alive. 😂😂
ReplyDeleteI used to like the same soya milk but lately I felt like drinking white clay water. So I switched the brands or took Oat Milk with my corn flakes and muesli. As for the Thai chilly sauce, try to squeeze some lime with a bit fish of fish sauce. It will manifest into a better Thai sauce.
Fried Beef Hor Fun sounds yummy and appetizing to make your parents happy. Good daughter.
Maybe you could make new dishes with slow cookers for their meals. My compiled recipe ideas include Tau Yew Bak, ABC Soup, Minnestrone Soup, Curry Chicken and etc etc using slow cookers. Then make Acar vegetables and other pickles like Sambal Ikan bilis to keep in fridge. Am I dreaming??
You have successfully lured me to visit Donald's shop later this week. Will disturb Ah Chun again!! 😂😂😂
I agree that hospitals are crucial for injuries and treatment of chronic diseases. We must have medical and hospitalization insurance to cover the costs.
DeleteYour slow cooker meal ideas sound wonderful! Yes, acar and sambal can be kept in the fridge. Very convenient.
LOL! Ah Chun will run away like a duck when he sees you!
Fried Beef Hor Fun from Kam Kee Cafe, that I can eat again at the Kam Kee outlet in Bukit Jalil but the rest of the other yummy food in uptown will have to wait. The siblings are working very hard to prevent the elderly's wounds to be like your photos so they are now visiting hkl wound care specialist but the elderly needs to be discipline to keep the blood sugar at a good level and not yoyo up and down by curi eat lots of carbs.
ReplyDeleteI have relatives who also curi curi eat food that trigger their blood sugar. They can't help wanting to eat the foods that they love even though it is detrimental to them.
DeleteI buy that V-soy, no sugar added, soya bean milk and also their multi-grain but I think they do not sell well so the supermarkets do not stock up on them...only those with sugar. I was happily drinking the ones with sugar one week and was shocked when I got tested at the end of the week - my blood sugar level shot up!!! I stopped drinking right away. Sticking to coconut water - that one's ok.
ReplyDeleteThese drinks will raise out blood sugar, so I am avoiding them.
DeleteI was enjoying looking at photos of delicious food....until I got to the leg (and lost all appetite)! >.< Something like that must come with a "warning"....lol.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, my apologies! I am so used to seeing "gory" medical photos that I am not aware that other people don't have the stomach for it. LOL!
DeleteYucks.... those leg photos, luckily I'm not eating when I was reading this post. >_< I recently saw posts about some newly invented "potong kaki" drinks which really shocked me how can people take such sweet stuff!
ReplyDeleteI did not know there is such thing as "potong kaki" drink LOL!
