Yay or what? hah..hah..hah.. The first week after my parents were discharged from the hospital I cooked up a storm for them.
Of course I included my brother (who worked from home to watch over our parents) and my partner. That experience (stressful as it was, I quite enjoyed it) taught me that it is very possible to prepare lunch for the day in the early hours of morning.
As long as you are not fussy and don't mind not getting much variety. Just three items makes the meal - one carb (rice), protein (chicken or pork/and or eggs) and one or two veggies (the most practical are cucumber and tomatoes, can be eaten raw).
First thing when I wake up (at 4:00am) is cook rice.
Then take the marinated chicken out from the fridge to stand to room temperature. These are air fried an hour later.
When I am in the mood, I fry eggs. What you see up there are a total of four eggs, two eggs each. I know. My eggs are super crispy especially the one on the left >.<
These were from the first week of cooking for four people. Meat patties and roasted veggie omelette (yup that's how I use up leftover roasted veggies).
I don't cook like that anymore because it takes up a lot of time. besides it is more economical to tapau especially in terms of time cost. Also I want my parents to have variety. My partner is ok to eat the same old same old (the Santa Fe Chicken Salad is testament to this wahahahaha!!!)
Here are a few more samples.
Sometimes I use pork loin. Those pieces in my container are the very fatty and burnt parts that my partner is not keen to eat.
I guess I will be continuing with this morning food prep until I don't know when.
Wow, you deserve a medal for being so diligent! All your bekal looks so tasty! ๐ Ah, kitty Kat is a big girl now but still very playful which is good ๐๐
ReplyDeletehah..hah.. thanks :)
DeleteI cooked lunch from home before, but many years ago when I worked in a bank. Woke up early to prepare dishes and cook rice then pack for work. Just heat up in microwave during lunch break.
ReplyDeleteYour lunch packs looked good, I also want some. Hehe.
It's good to prep our own lunch but it takes some diligence. Sometimes, I feel so lazy LOL!
DeleteYou flipped your eggs? I prefer mind sunny side up. What meat was that in the 2nd pic? Pork? Looks nice!
ReplyDeleteI did. My partner prefers to yolks to be fully cooked. Yes, you got that right, it's pork!
DeleteThe photos of your food looked very colourful, appetising and well balanced!! It made me think why the hospitals do not prepare like yours?? I want to show them your photos and suggest that they hire you as their F&B consultant. Ahem!! ๐๐๐
ReplyDeleteI think your partner is typical Penang lang who could eat the same meals or Santa Fe's everyday. We are so easy to please. Right, PH's lahling?
I suspect that your toes smell sweet and tasty like the kibbles. Do you rub tuna fish oil as foot moisturiser daily?? I need to ask your cat next time.
LOL!
DeleteMy toes probably smell like "kiam hu".
As long as the person who receive the lunch box not a picky fussy eater, your simple meal looked wholesome completed with all needed daily nutrition.
ReplyDeleteThanks, luckily my partner is not fussy. So far no complaints. LOL!
DeleteIf I have someone cook me such daily lunch boxes, I would have no complaints whatsoever either. They all look nutritious and good. Do you fry your eggs using a mould coz they come out very rounded? ;) P/S: Kitty Kat doesn't look so scrawny now...she has put on weight but is not a fatty bom bom yet....lol.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliments! I fry the eggs in the traditional cast iron wok. I bet Kitty Kat will become fat after she is spayed. But I have yet the time to take her to the vet >.<
