Standard 6 School Reunion : Throwback 2015

I was cleaning up the photo gallery of my old Microsoft Lumia phone when I found loads of photos. So I exported them to my computer.

Among the many photos I found were the snapshots taken during my primary school reunion. I wrote about the reunion back in 2015 here and today 30-05-2022, 7 years to the day, I will publish photos of the gathering.

This was the banner right outside the hotel (Permai Park Inn).

I remember I got a bit lost looking for the venue but eventually found my way there.

All my initial jitters were gone as I was so warmly welcomed by my ex-school mates.

I remember it was a lot of fun.

This was a wefie I got on my phone even before I arrived at my parents' house. Some of my friends stayed at the hotel and had a head start to the reunion.

Umi K was a pack of nerves before she arrived at the venue and frequently lamented about her anxiety (and attempts to lose weight before the meet up hah...hah...) on our whatsapp group.

She gave me a big bear hug when we met. Umi K, you are the best! The strange thing is that we were never aware of each other back in 1978 hah..hah...since we were not in the same class.

Of course there were lots of goodies to eat. I should not have had lunch before the meet. But how to say no to my mum? Mothers always insist on feeding you.

There were the usual goreng2 stuff.

The healthy stuff.

The home cooked section.

The unforgettable sayur kolok.

Laksa Terengganu.

And of course desserts.

And more desserts.

This is me, all bashful when Pokyo (standing behind me) asked me to take the mic and update the gathering about myself. I was too shy then.

There was a band playing and had I been my present 2022 self, I would have stood up (and addressed the crowd : Nok dengor lagu dok? [want to hear me sing?]), sashay to the band and ask if they could play Fly on the Wall by AC/DC. Hah!

We also shared a moment of silence in remembrance of classmates who departed too young. Umi K and I cried buckets.

Only one of our teachers showed up.

Cikgu Mokhtar was my class teacher. He was hilarious. I like teachers who have loads of humor.

That sure was fun. I don't know when such a reunion will take place again.

  1. Was that you in 2015? Why? You are so very pretty!!! Yes, an ex-student passed away the other day, so young so soon...and the classmates held a reunion in his memory. Cherish every opportunity to get together, that is my policy.

    1. Thank you, at my age I take all the compliments I can get. But that was 7 years ago. I look different now. LOL! It's sad to see our contemporaries go before their time.

  3. Finally see you face, for the 1st time! You're indeed a sweet looking lady, just like what Reanaclaire commented. That Sayur Kolok looks interesting as it didn't look like a veggie dish, mind to share what is that?

    1. Thank you hee..hee... I was 7 years younger then! Sayur kolok is something like sayur lemak, veggies cooked in santan. You can check it out here : http://www.secubitgaramnor67.com/2013/10/sayur-kolok.html?m=0#axzz7UolDIpTH

  7. Wah!!! First time I see your full photo is like kena lottery! You are really attractive with excellent personality and pretty face! No wonder Penang langs got attracted.
Sometimes I enjoyed school reunions too but when we have too many, it could be otherwise.
I lost almost 20 school friends so far and one even due to suicide.

I love Trengganu food and told my wife that we must drive to Kenyir Lakes and stay at your hometown to eat the yummy local food.
I am bored right now as I am at the hospital for few hours getting the painful injections.

    1. Aiyo..paiseh..paiseh... Yes, you must go to Terengganu with your wife, once you are in better health. Besides Kenyir Lake (which I never been too, so embarrassing) go to Kampung Cina in town and try the food. Also visit the market Kedai Payang. Lots of nice things to see there.

I hope you are coping well with your medical treatment. Take care!
