Selamat Hari Raya, my dear Muslim friends and readers! This morning I terkejut badak when I found out (from my brother) that today is Hari Raya.
Hari Raya came a day early and I missed the announcement yesterday. So I was oblivious to the fact until I checked my messages at 4:30 am this morning.
That probably explained why the rubbish truck turned up really early today (I heard the sound before 4:00 am!). Darn! I should have taken the rubbish out yesterday evening.
Anyway, yesterday I was in a good mood because I was looking forward to the next few days where I can lepak at home. I had prawns for lunch.
I just cincai-cincai cooked them in my ready made and frozen chili paste. Wah! Nice leh! I don't usually eat prawns and these were gifted to me by my brother (the married one) just before Chinese New Year. They came frozen and were still good when I cooked them.
Then in the evening, Georgina of Five & Two Foods came over to deliver this super delicious Dry Fry Mutton Masala that I ordered. The poor dear could not secure a rider to deliver the goods and had to come over personally with her hubby.
Right now I am imagining all the Raya goodies - nasi minyak, nasi tomato as well as lemang, rendang, delicious kuih raya and much more being enjoyed today and the next few days.
I am enjoying the peace and quiet at home, albeit with two kiddos who keep asking to be let in and out as if I have nothing better to do.
Happy holidays! Wah, Girl looks so cute! Notti Belle Belle. Punishment is no going out. Ya, yesterday grabfood has no riders so I use lalamove service to pickup my grabfood order. I must remember to order the mutton masala. Your bowl of rice looks absolutely delicious! Enjoy the holidays!
ReplyDeleteI am super enjoying the holidays hee..hee... Luckily I did not order any Grabfood or else will sure be frustrated!
DeleteWah! The prawns look so delicious. I miss the raya goodies too. I did cook chicken rendang but ate with steamed rice because I didn't go out to buy lemang. It that nasi briyani or tomato rice? Looks good and mouth-watering. Noti Belle for scratching mommy. I like the last shot of Girl, so cute. Enjoy your holiday.
ReplyDeleteThanks! That was tomato rice. I am enjoying my holidays and too bad it is coming to an end sobs! BTW your comment went into my spam folder and I don't understand why.
DeleteWhat cookies are those? Your prawns look gorgeous! The mutton...
ReplyDeleteThose are cranberry cookies, baked ages ago. LOL!
DeleteI see you've got yourself a long holiday ahead.....so free until can bake cookies? ;)
ReplyDeleteWah, that's a lot of prawns for one person to finish. If I were gifted such big (not to mention many...looks like at least 40-50) prawns, I'd also just cincai cincai cook with my frozen chilli paste (which I've got in my fridge but got no prawns)....lol! Are the prawns fresh or the frozen kind coz they look really plump.
During the Raya period, we've also had the misfortune of having some of our orders cancelled coz cannot find riders (not enough riders coz many sudah balik kampung). >.<
Oh dear, got scratched on your nose and lip again....that must have hurt. You really have to be careful with cats coz their demeanour is very unpredictable...especially those adopted from the streets. Somehow their stray cat genes (like my late Cookie) is unlike those very affectionate cats that have been brought up all their lives domestically and have become trusting of humans.
Oh ya, I am super enjoying my time off from work. Those cookies were baked long, long ago LOL!
DeleteI did not count the prawns hah..hah.. They are frozen and I defrosted them overnight in the fridge. Oh dear, must be so frustrating to have some of your food orders cancelled. Luckily I decided to do some home cooking or I might have experienced that too.
The scratch on the lip hurt the most! I carried Belle Belle (cradled her like a baby which was not a problem before) and for some reason she reacted and lashed out at me. Haiz! Very true, I have to be cautious and not get myself hurt again.
Your girls are adorable! Enjoy the holiday. Esther
ReplyDeleteThank you, Esther!
