Porky Porky Nite

It was a Sunday evening and I had nothing prepped for dinner. I was confident that I was sufficiently stuffed after lunch and that I could skip my evening meal.

But no. My stomach decided to be super efficient and lunch was digested by 4:00pm. So how, ah? Food delivery was out of the question because it was during that time when evening food deliveries were jammed up.

So I went to the freezer and found a packet of bacon and a packet of sausages. I swear I didn't plan this. I took both out to the kitchen counter to thaw. These things defrost quite fast especially in the current heat wave.

Please ignore my auntie legs.

I made what is known as Pigs in a Blanket. It made Girl howl. She was in a frenzy.

Simply wrap the sausages with a slice of bacon. Then bake in the oven at 200C for 20-25 minutes. Keep an eye on it to make sure it does not burn.

Two of my sausages split due to the heat, perhaps I overbaked.

The smell was heavenly bacony.

Though I can't say that these are a sight for sore eyes. They were pretty hideous to the eyes, scrumptious to the mouth.

No Girl, sorry, you cannot eat these.

She was not happy.

But I was. Burp!

  2. So nice to make your own pigs in the blankets. Haha. I used bread and sausages for mine once. Bacon wrapped is even better and more porky. Hehe. Poor ah girl, cannot enjoy the food.

  5. The sausage bursting out of its skin happens when I make them too....it's the same when I use the toaster oven. It's the heat in the sausage that makes it meletup out of its skin. I think if we make diagonal slits on the sausages, this won't happen...but who cares, burst skin lagi sedap...crisp...lol. P/S: I would howl and be in a frenzy too (like Ah Girl) if I smell this in the air....wuahahahaha! :D

  8. From your photo, I guess the pork sausages that I bought were same types with yours. Are your sausages come with hard casing which is rather hard to bite into? It's pretty annoying when eating them. >_<

    1. The casing was firm to the bite, like crunchy. But I don't mind.

  9. Ha! I have the same thought often too - surely I won't need dinner about this big lunch. It NEVER turns out true. I'm always hungry!
