I am still lazy too tired to food prep for my work day lunches so I rely on tapau for lunch. Last Friday I was on my feet from the time I woke up until 7:00 pm doing my housework and doing this and this again.
I have been tapau-ing from Home's Kitchen, so far two meals since the epic nasi lemak. Let me show you why I got confused the last time and ended up going to the wrong shop.
Home's Kitchen is on the right but I was misled by the arrow on the signboard (I was in a hurry and did not notice the other signboard LOL!). Apparently their neighbor is Authentic Penang Char Koay Teow. I did not realize that Char Koay Teow King moved there.
This is the menu.
The first two times I ordered via Grabfood self pick-up. Then wanting to help them save on commission, I ordered via their online portal, only to be informed that this site is managed by a third party who also charges commission. Adoi!
The lady asked me to order through her via whatsapp at this number :
The portion of rice is very generous (big bowl) and accompanied by the vegetable of the day (petola) and crispy fried wanton.
Then I went on to order the Curry Chicken Set because I liked the curry that I ate when I had their Nasi Lemak Supreme.
The curry chicken was too heavy on the curry powder and was quite overpowering and spicy hot too. A little disappointing I must say.
Well it looks like my tapau activity will have to stop and food prep is a must.
Because ...........
"Casual Contact No Symptoms". I was quite upset when I got this status on MySejahtera (so did my partner). To be responsible, I will not go out.
What does that mean? You were in contact with someone tested positive? Don't you have to go for the test to confirm you're negative? Yes, best not to go out but all the places in your photos look quite deserted, should be quite safe. The food does look a lot nicer in their photos.
ReplyDeleteIt simply means that I was at a place where a positive case was detected and I am not required to go for testing. I have opted to stay in and not go out until my status goes back to low risk.
DeleteI understand that it is quite upsetting to get that status. Back in April this year, due to going to Aeon or Aeon Big in Midvalley Mall, I got this status too so I don't go out now because don't want to get this status. Can still order contactless delivery though. Good that you can WhatsApp them direct to place your order to save them the commission. The food looks homely so my spouse would love them. Oh, no wonder you went up the wrong stairs. The signs are confusing. Please stay safe! Wishing you and your family all the best! I click on your two links. If I get what you mean correctly, wishing your dad a full and well recovery. Take good care! ❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your wish! Much appreciated :)
Deleteout-of-sudden become casual contacts because of the place that you've visited...The signboard to the Home's Kitchen is really confusing...i would be mislead to the wrong staircase too.
ReplyDeleteThey should remove that arrow hah..hah...
DeleteNow I know why you took the wrong staircase. I would too if I am coming from the left side, seeing the arrow and up I go..lol! The mui choy braised pork looks delicious. Tempeh chips look good. Waiting for you to post about it. It can be worrying and upsetting to get the casual contact status. The problem is we don't even know who was the casual contact.
ReplyDeleteI read that the MySejahtera app will be updated where we can check out when leaving a premise. That I believe would reduce the chances of being flagged as a casual contact.
DeleteWah, tempeh chips!
ReplyDeleteLooks like some sweet cookies at first glance. Hehehe
Looking forward to your review soon.
It is really good!
DeleteNo wonder you dont like the curry too, it looks too dark to my liking, must be too overpowering like you said. I have a very nice snack in my blog post too hee hee.
ReplyDeleteI once received such status in my tracetogether app before too. I think it is getting more common as there are more and more cases.
Yes, I read about your snack LOL!
DeleteI will like the mui choy braised pork too (just looking at the pork bellies, slurps!). The snack appears sweet and milky to me from the look of it, looking forward to your review.
ReplyDeleteThe snack is salty and they also have the unsalted version. It's quite good.
DeleteHow does the petola taste like?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you are familiar with petola. In English it is called loofa. It's hard for me to describe the taste hah..hah... but what I can say is I like it :)
DeleteOh, now they have such indication on MySejahtera app. Maybe you have been to to many places to have such pop out. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI just have mui Choy pork few days ago. Will blog on it soon.
You have recipe for mui choy pork? hee..hee..
Delete"Casual contact"....no need to be too alarmed about as it's becoming more common these days...due to the places we visit (that may have had a positive case around the days we visited, not necessarily that you came into contact with someone positive). I used to be concerned too but my husband has had that status 3 times already coz he's the one who usually goes out to tapau or buy groceries while I would do that too occasionally or buy things that he doesn't know how to buy-lah (usually the wet market). Does that mean we don't go out to buy food? Not really. We can't if we still want to support these businesses. And that was before I realised 60% of the places we support have had their outlets closed at one time or another (they usually resume business after 3 days). It's very common these days and we know that because we drive past them (we wouldn't have known if we only order delivery)...and it's not only eateries, it can also be grocery shops and pharmacies. As long as we ourselves know how stringent we personally are at practising our own strict SOPs, we don't need to be overly alarmed at the "casual contact" status (that's my stand anyway but, of course, you have the right to be upset if that is how you feel). But seeing that your partner also got the same status (I'm assuming you both got it at the same time), I can only guess that it's probably due to your grocery shopping (which you both usually go together) seeing that he wasn't there when you go tapau-tapau at work...lol.
ReplyDeleteThe food that you tapau-tapau at Home's Kitchen looks quite similar to what Sally's Kitchen would offer too...but my Sally's Kitchen, the food looks better presented lah (and probably a bit tastier?)...kekeke! ;) However, your Home's Kitchen got supreme menu...next you may want to try the lou shu fun & pan mee supreme?...hah..hah! :D
Thanks for the clarification. Now that I understand what it means, I no longer feel anxious. But I do feel self-conscious to go out to buy things hah..hah.. For sure I can't enter The Starling or Aeon as they check our status and only low risk is permitted entry.
DeleteI agree that Sally's Kitchen's food presentation is better. Hmmm...let me see if I am prepared to order the other two Supremes that I have yet to taste hee..hee...
The curry looked like chicken stew to me due to the brownish hue and the pork belly in the Mui Choy Braised Pork is too fatty, LOL
ReplyDeletehah..hah... I like the fatty parts!
DeleteI had a good laugh at the photo of Home's Kitchen. I would have ran up the first stairs like a blind bat. LOLOL
ReplyDeleteI am shocked that Nicsmann by Lewre had closed down. They always held grand and incredible functions for all the well heeled people in KL.
Right? LOL! They should remove the arrow on the left hand side.
DeleteYes, Nicsmann always hosts functions during lunch or dinner. The floor space they occupy is huge, so imagine the rental cost. Now with pandemic going on and on, no functions and they cannot survive.
